Sci-Fi Help finding a book title?

Years ago, when I was about 14/15, I read a book that I really enjoyed but I can't remember the name or the author. what I do remember of the book is as follows:

• It had a single word title (90% sure)
• The title may have started with a "C" (10% sure)
• The story started with a discovery of some type of algae in the ocean and a definite rise in tidal levels
• There were Nazis featured at some point
• The ending was about the protagonists making their way to a space ship that would take them away from the earth.

Its very vague but I would like to read this book again if anyone can help me identify it?????

thanks for the reply. No its not Cachalot as it is based on Earth and more of a catastrophe type story. Cachalot sounds interesting though, might have to give it a read

Sorry but it sounds really difficult to get the title of the book. You can download this iPhone app. It has a short description of the book. Just give it a try. And now I am also very eager to know the book and read it . So please let me know.
