i like playing ranger/rogue-ish characters. so i am thinking something that caters to the outdoors/woods.

i just jotted a few down, and i don't have anything definite yet.

River, Creak, Boulder, Rockfield and ive always wanted to play a Zeppelin (tribute to the band)

I'll probably change it several times but im interested in yall's name.

Im sure a lot of yall will use your forum name, but for those of you who don't, lets see some good creative imgainations.

If Togs can be non-monster-faced, I'll be bringing my Lineage 2 orc back as a warrior/ranger, so that'll keep the name Uuurha.

For the rest...I'd have to really know the character first, and the lore. I tend to avoid taking names from latin, lord of the rings, or popular fantasy, though I have a fondness for welsh and gaelic names (Mynfel and Cruithne, for example).

Unless I already have a name I really want to use, I ask myself two questions before I pick a name:

1) Would it make sense for my character to have chosen a new name for themselves at some point, or for someone else to have renamed them in their adulthood?

2) If the answer to the above is "no", who were their parents, and what would their parents have named them?

Because, to use your example Kickinbama, if the guy hadn't named himself, and his parents were not rangers but were in fact bakers, they might have named him something very un-rangerish out of their hopes of having someone to carry on the family pastry business.

Names rarely match the personality or profession. Unless, of course, someone would have had a reasonable cause to rename themselves, or their society renames folks upon reaching adulthood.
 
I've always named my characters a few different names, however I don't feel like getting banned so I'll probably stick with Frosty. These were my old names though.

I'm pretty sure we'll keep up with naming standards the same as we do our other games, although they might let it slide on a pvp server..

In DR you can't use a lot of popular fiction names, no real famous people names (so no um.. George Bush, probably not Dubya either.. no Oprah, etc.) and no numbers or other characters in names, so we don't have Fred, Fred1, Fred1324, Fred4 running around, and nothing like XxNAMExX.. In DR it is filtered when you make the character, and if you manage to slide through with one, if a GM sees it I'm pretty sure they'll make you change it.

Sometimes it makes it harder to name them, but I like it a lot better that way..

I agree as well. I enjoy that a lot more, but there is alwyas time for a good laugh. however, I do agree greatly about the no XxXEdgexxXxxForXxxLifeXxxX bull felgercarb. I hate numbers as well, hopefully everything will be a bit fantasy like for a better immersion.
 
I hope they don't have hard regulations for names...

I usually go as Killarai.
But if they do have some strict rules, I'll have to go as Rai or Kilarai.

I also hope they don't have 4+ letter rules.
 
My new name is now llillililiiilili....hopefully in HJ it will look like a barcode like it does in WC3!
 
Well me im new to this heros journey but it reminds me of EQ and it looks like ill get into it but i will name my person Xblood like in EQOA, Diablo 2, FFXI, and in socom 2 and 3 :smiley:

i wanna fire this thread back up.

i thought of a couple rogue names that i liked

Knavish Dodger or Shady Louche



i haven't explored the ranger side yet, and im interested in mixing wizard in there.

maybe ranger/rogue rogue/ranger or rogue/wizard its getting interesting
 
It will probably depend on different things...

If the Togs are Orcish-like, I will undoubtedly use the name Grell'Norr or Grell'Norr the Green depending on the naming rules...

I also like the name Mierin for a female.

Also possibly my forum name, or a variate of it, Gurun Diem.

Unless I join a collective community family, then I'll take that last name and make my second character Vatedon <insert last name>.
