I understand what you are coming from, but nothing is really 'exclusive' in the world of internet. You can't really have an exclusive screenshot unless you make it a private screenshot that only a few people could view. However, when posted online it's basically fair game in my eyes to post it on yours.

Umm.... Frosty.... I love you really, I dig your website, but you could not be more wrong.

Here is a link of a basic overview of Intellectual Property principles as they apply to website content: Don't steal website content if you don't wanna be e-spanked

...

So moral of the story in nice, simple bullet points:

I - I agree with foxeye completely.
II - *Always* link rather than take when it says "exclusive".
III - *Ask* if you want to copy something they have and you don't (yet).

Hell, if you are polite to the dudes who run the other websites, you might get to know people you can enjoy playing with in-game.[/b][/quote]

Btw, the U.S. Digitial Millenium Act prohibits copying website content belonging to other sites without clearly stating where it was copied from, and giving appropriate credit:

http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/ge...2281enr.txt.pdf (U.S. D.M.A.)

Intellectual Property knows no bounds, it merely has to be proven that you are the original creator of the writing. In HTML and *any* computer source code, it *MUST* differ by more than 70% in order to no longer apply... yet, it can *still* be considered a derivative work, and subject to any penalties if the license the work was published with or displayed with does not allow for derivative works. Want proof, just look at Linux vs. SCO Unix, and porn sites stealing each others images.

I know ways to steal images even from protected sites that use improper protection. Does it make it legal since there are work arounds? Nope.

Anyhow... I wouldn't be attempting to help Frosty and those here if I didn't believe in it the reason for the site. B)

I think you could make your site a little better with some naked ladies swinging giant swords around on screen. I'd be happy then.

I remember my constitutional law lecturer summarizing this in:

"If you rip off one person that's plagiarism. If you rip off a lot of people, that's research."

Great stuff J! You're now my favourite mod ;)

Im doing fansites for almost 7 years now and I think we found a way that suits everyone. When a fansite has exclusive material, I link to it with a short quote. After 1 week I upload it to our server so we have it in our database. This gives the fansite with the exclusive material 1 week with high traffic and after 1 week we have our complete database of articles and screenshots.

I usually contact the fansite admin to talk about this before there is a missunderstanding. I think exclusive stuff is something very important and every webmaster is proud to put something on his/her website that noone has seen before. So I give them their exclusiveness (and they will give me mine..) and I still get why I want...an uptodate website.

Oh..btw...great website

I chose the top option simply because there really is nothing more to ask for in terms of content since the game isn't out yet. Once the game is out I will expect various guides, guild listings, fraps vids, player made screenshots, in depth reviews on specific isolated aspects of the game and stuff.

I like that you and others have included what you would like to see once the game is out. I'm sure Frosty and the rest of the mods will see your suggestions, Though I'll post it to our own spot for "items to-do", thus passing it along for everyone to see a bit faster hehe.

Thanks for the suggestions, and as people have mentioned before me. We are going to do better at giving credit where it is due.
