The Truth
</span>

It was a sunny Wednesday morning. The air smelled fresh as though it had just been rejuvenated. The ground moist from the previous rain the night before. A girl pulls into a driveway in her white Jeep. From outside the car you can barely make out Evanescence playing. She honks the horn and looks at the clock. Its reads 7:21.

Hearing the horn from out side, John looks out the window, seeing his friend waiting. He grabs his book bag and runs down the stairs. Walking into the garage he hits the garage door opener. The chains pulling the door rattle as it opens. As John gets in the car, he throws his bag in the back seat. “Sorry about that.” said John as he closed the door. “ I was up last night doing homework and I fell asleep on my books and I forgot to set my alarm.” The lie seems real enough. Enough to make Melissa change the subject to the test that was to be given out it first period. A test John had no time to study for.

As the white Jeep pulled into the school parking lot, Melissa looked around for a spot. John notices a black Mercedes sitting in front of the school. Inside he barley makes out two faces. One of them is an assassin for the KGB. “Oh my Gosh.” John says as he leaned back in his seat. “We need to leave”

“Why?” asked Melissa in amazement of John’s sudden out burst.

“I can’t tell you. You just need to drive. We have to get out of here now.” Melissa, believing John hit the accelerator and rushed through the parking lot. She swerved around the corner barely missing another car. The driver of the Mercedes notices the Jeep and John inside.

“That’s him!.” The driver exclaimed in his deep voice to the passenger. The Mercedes speeds up behind the Jeep.

Melissa can see the stop lights that are 300 feet in front of her.

“It’s red. I can’t go!” Melissa exclaimed wondering what to do.

“Yes you can. Run it!” John yelled as he pushed Melissa foot on to the pedal. The car accelerated. swerving to the left as an oncoming car barley missed it. The other car hit its brakes coming to a stop. The car behind it smashed into it pushing the other car forward. John looks back as the cars pile up. He notices the Mercedes driving through the grass. “felgercarb!” John said as he punched the dash board.

“What?” Melissa asked as she sped down the road.

“They’re still following us. We need to get on the interstate.” John said as he looked in the rearview mirror. “Take a right here!” The car made a sharp right missing another car. “There! The entrance to the left!” Melissa sped into the oncoming lane, and down onto the entrance ramp. John looked back. The Mercedes was still behind them.

As Melissa made it onto the interstate she sped up to 90. “What is going on?” She yelled at John. Not paying any attention to Melissa and noticing the Mercedes catching up to them, John grabbed his back pack. He threw it down in front of him. He unzipped the front pocket exposing a gun. Melissa noticed this and yelled “You have a gun!” John grabbed a grenade out of the pocket and put it into the gun.

“When I say it, hit the brakes and turn right!” John ordered Melissa.

“What?” Melissa asked

“Now!” Listening to John, Melissa slammed on the brakes and turned the steering wheel. The cars wheels slid across the ground as it spun to the right. John pulled the gun out of the window and pointed it at the Mercedes. His finger came down on the trigger and a grenade flew out of the gun heading straight for the Mercedes. As it hit the car, flames flew out as it exploded and flew forward into the air, flipping. The Jeep spun back around and Melissa hit the accelerator again. The car raced through traffic.

“What is going on. Tell me now or I will stop the car!” Melissa exclaimed.

“I know your not going to believe me,” John replied. “but I am a secret agent for MI5.”

“Take this exit.” John said to Melissa as he pointed to the upcoming exit ramp. They made it up the ramp and onto the road. Melissa turned into the gas station and stopped the car.

“Who are you?” Melissa asked John as she turned towards him. “When I picked you up this morning I thought I was picking up John Cuvee, my best friends since the first grade, but I don’t know you any more. All I know about you is that you’re a spy!”

“I’m not a spy. I am a field agent for MI-5.” John replied.

“Spy , secret agent. WHO CARES!” Melissa opened the car door and got out. She walked the front of the car and leaned against the hood. John got out too and sat next to Melissa.

“I know that all of this is new to you and that you probably think that you don’t know who I am any more. But all I can tell you right now is that I am a Junior Field Agent for London branch of the MI-5. Those people back there were assassins for the KGB. For some reason they are after me and its not safe any more so we have to get out of here right now.” John looked at Melissa as she got off the car and walked away. “Melissa, please.”

“Please what? Forget that I just helped a you kill two men. I’m now a murder and it’s all your fault.” Melissa yelled back. “I wish that I never would’ve meet you.” Melissa whispered. She turned back around and walked towards the gas station convenience store. John jumped off the car and raced after her. He grabbed her arm and turned her around.

“Melissa I am the same person that I have always been.” John said as he looked her in the eyes. “Your just going to have to accept what I’m telling you. You just need….you just need to trust me right now. Both of our lives are in danger and I am not willing for you to risk yours by leaving here by yourself. I need you take me somewhere.”

“Are you kidding me? Just leave! I hope I never see you again.” Melissa opened the door to the convenience store and walked in. A bell rang as the door closed. John just stood there. He turned around and began to walk.

He had walked about half a mile before he heard a horn behind him. It was Melissa. The Jeep came to a stop next to John. The passenger door opened and Melissa told him to get in. “I don’t know why I am doing this.” Melissa said to John as he got in and closed the door. “But I’m willing to give you one more chance. So where do you need to go?” Melissa asked as she started driving again.

“You know The Salvation Army on Elm road? We need to get to the storage house behind the store.” John told Melissa.

“Why the storage house?” Melissa asked.

“Because that is where the London MI-5 headquarters is located.”

Melissa pulled into a rundown parking lot. The asphalt cracked. The lines worn and hard to see. Her and John both go out of the car and headed towards a door. John walked up to the door and punched in 4747 on the keypad. The door opened and they walked inside. John then placed his hand on a pad and a scanner started. Melissa just stared at John as all of this was going on. Another door came open and they walked through it. They then came into a room. People were running back and forth. Computers were everywhere. John began walking toward and office but turned around when he noticed that Melissa was no longer by his side. She stood there in amazement. John walked up to her and told her to follow him. They made there way past desk which were occupied by people busy at work. John threw open a door to an office. Inside was middle aged man. On his desk was a plaque that read Harry Richards - MI-5 Director. His hair was white and he had began balding. He stood up. His physique was one of a regular man in his 50’s. He was average height. His shirt was tight around his bulging stomach as he walked towards him. He limped toward them. A limp caused by arthritis in his knees.

“I need help.” Said John.

“I know. Said Mr. Richards. “Come with me.” As they walked Mr. Richards began to talk. “An hour ago we became aware of intel on a KGB server. That intel was orders for the KGB to kill you and your family. Once we found this out we tried contacting you at your school but they said that you never showed up.”

“Yeah I recognized a KGB assassin at my school.” John explained to Mr. Richards.

Now noticing Melissa, Mr. Richards called a man over. “Melissa this is Agent Phillips. He will be escorting you to a safe house.”

“A safe house.” Melissa asked.

“Yeah. You’ll be safe there.” John said to Melissa. “And they will also tell you what is happening.”

“So your not coming with me?” asked Melissa.

“No. Sorry.” said John.

Two men came and escorted Melissa away. As they walked Melissa turned around and looked at John. He looked back and mouthed “It’ll be okay.” Once she was gone John turned and looked at Mr. Richards. “What is going on?” John yelled. “I have just put my best friend in huge danger.”

“John you need to calm down. Let me explain. This morning at 8:05 we found intel on a KGB server giving orders for your family to be assassinated.”

“Assassinated?” John asked. “Why?”

“From what we could tell from the intel, your family contains top secret information.”

“Information. About what?” John asked.

“We have a team working on figuring that out. But for now we need to put you in hiding.” said Mr. Richards.

“No, I have to find my mom.” John said as he walked away. He walked through the doors and came to the parking lot. The only car he could see was Melissa’s. He got in the car and hot wired it. It started and he backed out of the parking lot. As he got on the road he took out his cell phone. He held down the number 1 and a number came up. He pressed send and it began to ring. A man on the other line picked up.

“Hello?” said the man in his deep voice.

“Robert, is my mom there?” John asked.

“Yeah hold on.” The man put his hand over the phone and began to yell. “Irina, its for you.”

Reunion</span>

“Hello?” said voice on the other line. It was a voice that John hadn’t heard in a while.

“Mom?” John asked.

“Yeah sweetie its me. What’s the matter?” asked Irina.

“Mom, where are you? I need to find out so we can get out of the country.”

“Why?” Irina asked starting to become worried.

“Richards just told me that the KGB has given orders to its agents to assassinate our family. You need to tell me where you are right now.” John protested.

“I can’t tell you. We can not be together. If the KGB finds us together then we have no chance of surviving.”

“What do you mean you can’t tell me. I’m your son. I need to find you so I can know your safe.”

“I’m not telling you to protect you. But there is one thing that I have to tell you. There is someone else that you need to find.” said Irina.

“Who?”

“Sydney Bristow. She is an agent for the CIA.”

“Why do I need to find Sydney Bristow? John asked.

“Because she is your sister.”

“WHAT?” John asked being taken back by the new information. “Since when do I have a sister?”

“Almost 30 years ago I was ordered to go to the U.S. and get intelligence on an operation the CIA was doing. In order to get that information I had to…..”

“Just tell me where she is.” John interrupted.

“She lives in Los Angeles.” Irina said. “Also……….” The line went silent.

“Mom?” John asked becoming worried of what might have happened to Irina.

“I have to go.” Irina whispered. “Don’t worry I will be save. Just find your sister and then I will find you.” John then heard a click and the line went dead. John took his phone and threw it on the ground of the passenger seat.

He pulled into a parking lot. This was just to much for him to handle. He opened the door and got out of the car. He held himself up by his hand on the car. For 16 years he thought that he was an only child and now he has a sister. Again this was to much for him. He couldn’t take it. He opened his mouth and threw up.

“Welcome to Los Angeles.” as John stepped out of the plane it rang over the intercom. “You can pick your baggage up in section D47. John had no baggage. All he knew was that he needed a car.

He walked out of the airport and looked around at the full parking lot. The sun was beaming for the car tops. It looked as though he was staring at a diamond. With each movement his eye would catch a glare from a different car. He walked up to a BMW. Looking around John pulled on the handle. The car was locked. He stood back and kicked through the window. He opened the door and got in. Sparks flew as he put two wires together. The car started.

He was now on Arlington road. He had stopped at a gas station about 30 minutes early to pick up a map of Los Angeles. On it he looked for the CIA headquarters. He was now headed there.

He stopped the BMW in front of a building. He got out and looked up. On the front of the building a sign read “Central Intelligence Agency.” He made his way through two glass doors with gold metal trim around them. As he made his way to a counter that was ahead of him he noticed a portrait on the marble floor. It was a circle with an eagle inside of it.

“Hi. I uh… I need to find Sydney Bristow.” John told the lady behind the desk. She was a short lady dressed in a tan dress suit. Her dark silk blouse could be seen under the jacket. Her short hair was beginning to gray.

“I’m sorry, but who are you?” The lady asked.

“That doesn’t matter. I need to find Sydney Bristow.” John’s voice began to raise.

“Please sir.” asked the lady trying to calm John down.

“Where is she?” John yelled.

“Please wait here a minute.” she told John.

The lady walked off. John leaned against the counter and looked around. The lobby he was in was rather large. The black marble every where did seem the make the room seem smaller than it actually was but it was still large all the same. Above the round portrait on the floor was a chandelier. Crystals hung on it as they reflected the sunlight shining through the windows that surrounded the entrance doors. “Excuse me how many I help you.” A low voice asked from behind. It was a man. He was rather tall. His hair was gray and wavy. It was combed to the side. He stood in his dark suit. It was nicely buttoned and very neat.

“Yes, I am looking for Sydney Bristow.” John told the man.

“She isn’t here right now. May I ask who you are.” The man said the John.

“I am John Cuvee. I am her brother. Who are you?”

“Her brother?” The man looked confused. “I am Jack Bristow. Her father.”

A black Lincoln pulled into a drive way. It stopped and the doors opened. Both Jack and John got out of the car and walked up to a house. It was Sydney’s house. John rang the door bell and waited. He put his ear up to the door and listened for any one coming. He heard nothing. Then he heard a beep. And then another. Soon they became more frequent. John leaned back from the door. He turned to Jack and grabbed his arm. “RUN!” John yelled. They ran off the porch. Behind them the glass broke and the door flew off. Flames went flying through out the house. As it exploded pieces of wood flew by John and Jack as they were hurled into the air. John hit the ground with a thud. He lay there listening to the flames. He turned and looked at Jack.

“Jack are you ok?” Jack said nothing. John got up and pulled Jack to his feet. He walked him to the car and opened the door. He put Jack in the back seat. His unconscious body lay on the leather seats as if it were lifeless. John took the keys from Jack and started the car. As he pulled out of the driveway he noticed a car coming down the street.

As the black Lincoln flew through traffic Jack looked back. A KGB agent was right behind him. He swerved between cars trying to loose them. He didn’t have his gun with him. As he flew by another car he saw a railroad track on the other side of the road. He hit accelerator and threw the car to the left. Its back wheels slid across the pavement. He flew down the street next to the train. Ahead he could see the crossing. He hit the accelerator even harder. 70; 80; 90 mph. He looked in the rearview mirror and saw the KGB agents. He pulled ahead of the train and came to the crossing. Ignoring the blink lights John flew over the tracks crashing through the wood barriers. The train came speeding behind the Lincoln. The KGB agents sat on the other side of the tracks.
