ldhi: Good Morning! 
all readers! This is the way I'm going to update from this point forward in this fic, update and then spoiler, update, spoiler, etc. Tuesday I'm hoping to have a double update for everyone 'cause it's my birthday. Thanks to everyone for their wonderful reviews, I loved reading them. Ummmmm other than that please R&R and enjoy. -erin
Chapter Two
“Thank you Mrs. Hecht.”
“No problem, it’s nice to meet Meredith’s friends.”
“Come on in Clarissa, let’s go hop in the pool it’s hot outside.”
“Excuse me girls I have to go call you Aunt Nadia.”
“Okay mom.” Meredith replied.
As soon as Sydney went back inside Clarissa said, “I really like your mom. She seems so cool and caring.”
“Thanks, but sometimes she’s so embarrassing. Like one time we’re grocery shopping and she slipped and fell. The oranges she was holding flew into the air and hit her. Not to mention that she sat on the floor giggling like a four year old after it happened.”
“Still Mar, I think she’s cool.”

Sydney made her way up to her room. She picked up her cordless phone and went through the caller i.d. list. Vaughn, Michael…that’s it! Sydney pushed the call button. It rang.
“Vaughn residence, this is Alex.”
“Hi Alex, is Michael around?”
“You mean my father? Sure.”
“Yeah, thanks.”
“Hello? This is Michael.”
“Vaughn!” Sydney couldn’t help but yell.
“Syd?”
“Yes!”
“How did you find my number? We just moved.”
“Long story short, Clarissa is at my house. She called Meredith. I got it off of caller i.d.”
“Oh wow. It’s really nice to hear your voice again Syd.”
“I know. Clarissa really looks so similar to Meredith. Who knew they were going to be friends? So how’s life been for you?”
“Pretty well except this d*mn custody battle.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, Alice wants the kids, Alex and Clarissa.”
“No.”
“Yeah, the kids hate her.”
“I bet. I still can’t believe you married her!”
“I know, I know, biggest mistake of my life, besides breaking up with you. How’s your life?”
“Okay, well it could be better. It’s going to be five years since Danny’s death…so that’s just taking a toll on me.”
“Danny passed away? Wow, Syd, I’m really sorry. I would’ve sent flowers if I knew. I’m sorry. Hey I got to go run Alex to hockey practice. Dinner Friday at seven at um…”
“The Brown Pelican, a pretty good by the beach restaurant.”
“Okay, see you then.”
“Wait!”
“What?”
“You need directions.”
“Nah…I’ll map quest it.”
“Okay, bye.”
“Bye.”
Sydney couldn’t help but wipe the smile off her face. She called her sister Nadia.
“Hello? This is Nadia.”
“Nad, its Syd!”
“Hey Syd! You sound so happy about something.”
“I am! I just have a date with Michael Vaughn!”
“No way! Since when did he and Alice divorce?”
“Not sure. But, they’re going through a custody battle.”
“Oh.”
“How are you, Weiss, and Otto doing?”
“Great, Hawaii is amazing.”
“Good, we’ll be visiting soon then.”
“Just give me an advanced notice so the house hasn’t been trashed my Otto and all his friends from the fifth grade.”
“Okay…don’t worry we’ll call before we arrive on the doorstep.”
“SYD!”
“Just kidding…well I suppose I better go out to the pool and watch the girls.”
“Okay.”
“Nadia…Clarissa and Meredith are friends and I’m going to need your help to tell them eventually along with Vaughn. They’re going to find out sooner or later.”
“You can count on my help. Bye Syd.”
“Bye! Thanks Nad!”
She hung up the phone and went downstairs to see the girls lounging on the mats in the pool.
“Hey!”
“Hi mom.” Mary Ann replied.
“Do you guys want to order pizza?”
“Sure.”
“Clarissa do you want to call and see if it’s okay if you stay for dinner?”
“Okay…where’s the phone Mrs. Hecht?”
“I’ll get it for you.”
“Thanks.”
“No problem.”
Clarissa got on the phone, “Hi dad, can I stay at Meredith’s for pizza?”
She put her hand over the phone, “Mrs. Hecht do you want my dad to pick up the pizzas for you. He says he’s out and would be happy to do that since I’m staying for dinner and swam here.”
“Okay. I’ll put in the order and tell them he’s picking them up.” Sydney replied.
“My dad’s name is Michael.”
“Alright, I’ll call the order in right now. We’re ordering from Pizza Hut…it’s in Santa Barbara. Is cheese alright with everyone?”
Everyone nodded and then Sydney called the order in on her cell phone and told Clarissa to tell her dad it would be forty minutes.
Clarissa finished her phone call with her father.
“Will you guys be okay here if I go take a shower?” Sydney asked.
“Sure…go take a shower mom; I’m sure we’ll be alright. Mary Ann’s trained in CPR.”
“Okay…”
Sydney had half an hour to look decent for Michael Vaughn. They hadn’t seen each other in eight years. It had been a long time. She had gotten old since then. After putting on make-up and a pair of jeans with a striped tank top she found herself waiting. She spent the time cleaning the kitchen and starting on the laundry. The doorbell rang.
“I’ll get it girls.” Sydney told the three of them who were still in the pool.
This is it…my first impression in eight years. I better look good, Sydney thought.
