It's nearly the end of the year!

About another 12.5 hours here until 2008 arrives!

But, of course, since it is both month end & year end it means that I'll be here at the office working all day & night so there'll be no parties for me tonight. Perhaps Tuesday I'll visit some family for the traditional dinner of pork & sauerkraut.

What is it with you guy's and pork and sauerkraut? LOL!
I'm form a German family and we never eat pork and sauerkraut.
How did this become a tradition for you to have on New Years Eve?

At least for me it comes from living in this area. A lot of the Pennsylvania Dutch communities come from German ancestry and along the years pork & sauerkraut (and mashed potatos, with a slab of butter on top... can't forget them!) became a New Years Day tradition meant to bring good luck for the new year.

A lot of my favorite foods are actually related to the PA Dutch communities. Pennsylvania Dutch Red Birch Beer... sweet Lebanon bologna... chicken dumplings... funnel cake... fastnachts... corn fritters... man, I'm getting hungry. :D
