Well I guess J.J. Abrams' "Lost" might be alright for a while and get
some viewers attention if it doesn't turn into a Gilligan's Island.
In its time I think the men watched only for Tina Louise (Ginger
Grant) and women for Russell Johnson (The Professor)and children
between 7 to 12 years of age! Click the link if you don't know what
Gilligan's Island is and you want to find out from TV Tome website!
Probably most of you haven't heard of Gilligan's Island "Verdanheart" probably remembers the show -- "Gilligan's Island" but the rest of you I think are too young!

This is the only stranded Island (and it was a comedy in its day)
that lasted as a series on TV except the BBC mini-series "The
Prisoner" about a resigned Spy who is imprisoned on an Island called
the "Village" that ran 17 episodes that I know of....
Yet there is a cult fan of "The Prisoner" some would argue a sequel
to BBC's "Secret Agent/Danger Man" starring Patrick McGoohan! Click
the link if you don't know anything about The Prisoner -- from TV
Tome! Of course, the fans loved the miniseries but were angry over
the final two episodes and Patrick McGoohan actually had to go in
hiding for some time to get away from the hate mail!

I guess we'll have to see next Fall if "Lost" has any staying power
on ABC but ABC is finkle and axs dramas right and left at a drop of a
hat so it is hard for new shows to have a chance on that network!
