A New York Times article that ran last Thursday is already on its way toward becoming a feature film produced by J.J. Abrams. The article was called (and the film will be called) "Mystery on Fifth Avenue," and it told the story of Steven Klinsky and Maureen Sherry, Wall Street financial experts and parents of four. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the couple purchased 4,200-square-foot, 1920s co-op with views of Central Park in 2003 for $8.5 million and turned their new home into an elaborate puzzle full of hidden compartments, messages, poems, codes, and games for their children to enjoy.
Abrams will somehow dramatize this scavenger hunt premise, and right here is where I make a fresh and hilarious joke about a smoke monster. Writers Maya Forbes and Wally Wolodarsky will craft the screenplay based on Penelope Green's article.
