~Joe's Bar & Grill~

I was so excited when I checked my box today and found THREE updates!!! I'm glad Vaughn got whatever the hell that was out of his head. Now, hopefully, things can go back to normal. Hint hint. :angelic: Thanks for the PM!

Man, he took finding that thing in his head way to well. I'd have freaked! I'm just glad it's out now. He needs to get back to Syd and let her know what's going on, at least enough so she knows he loves her more then anything in the world!!! I can't wait for another update!

This f***ing sucks….
HAHA!!! I can imagine that it would! This line made me crack up!

His eyes traced Vaughn’s scalp for any abnormalities.  He looked closer, and just above Vaughn’s left ear was a small spot of pink.  It was a trail left from a previous scar.

“Well…well…well…what do ya know?”
What is this supposed to mean?

The soft ocean breeze blew through the small area that was set up for the special event.  Few sat in the chairs behind the flowered arch on the beach, only those that mattered the most to the both of them.

He stood under the arch, his best friend standing next to him on his right side.

The music started a few moments later, and everyone stood up.  From behind the row of palm trees came the woman he had been born to love, dressed in white and being escorted by her father.  Her white vale covered her face slightly, but couldn’t hide her smile, nor the glow she exhibited.

As she got closer things started to fade, people started to disappear and the colors of the environment turned to black.

She kept smiling.
I hope that they really do end up getting married on the beach like this!

Everything went smoothly.  It took about two hours.  In the bag is what I extracted, I washed it off, don’t worry.

He folded the letter back up and took out the second bag.  A small pill shaped metal chip was inside.
Did he really extract it? Or did he just do a little experiment of his own like the doctor that put the chip there in the first place?

He felt better already.  Now he just had to make it up to Sydney.
Just tell her the truth! Some @sshole doctor put something in your head to make you hurt the ones you love and you had to go to New York to get it removed. WOW! That sounds so far fetched.... If I were Syd I don't know if I would believe that... It sounds too crazy!

Great chapter!

Oh my GOD. I miss two chapters and KABOOM! So much happens in that short time! And I don't think anyone could possibly pull such a twist like that but you, Kristina :P

Dudey... Just to think, last chapter? Vaughn had hair.

*runs to get the broom*
*sweeps Vaughn's hair into a plastic bag*

Me? Obsessive? Never. :angelic:

I can't believe he's bald though... I mean, ok, I should really be thankful that Vaughn's ALIVE... But... He's bald!

Maybe I should just let that bald thing drop... And just be happy Vaughn's alive and microchip-in-the-head-less

*hugs Vaughnie* I'm so glad he's ok :D But you know what? THE DOCTOR! What's his name? Dr uh... Juggles or something? Anyway, Dr Juggles? He is SCARY. He just seems so... I dunno, EVIL? Like when he says "Well, well, well, what do we have here?" or something! AHH! That just scared the bejeezus out of me...

DR JUGGLES IS EVIL!

:o_O: *runs and hides*

What if he put an even BIGGER microchippy in Vaughn? What if he's EVIL!?

 Or maybe I'm just crazy...

Anyway, hope Vaughnie finds a way to make it up to Syd! Love the updates!

god kristina i missed the fight  well i mean not  i mean  because it was a fight and that's bad but  because...

ya know what? i'm just gonna let it go... before i confuzzle myself even more

ok umm.. hmm.. as usual, i have a million things to say in my review and then i just start babbling in them and forget everything

*sits at computer and stares at screen*

OH! right the surgery... ok you know the "well, well, well... what do ya know?" line?

*hides behind kristina*

i can't believe vaughnie went to him. well i mean it's good that he's a micro-chip-less vaughnie now but... that's like getting some random slicing your head open. literally.

i don't like it... what if he placed a pen lid in his head instead? i mean pen lids are really cool and all but to have one in your head?

:( i'd rather have a hollow head (like i do now) *pats head* it's ok headdie, you can have no bwain, it's ok, the JuJu still gets through life

but kristina.. i'm serious... that guy.. what was his name? well cai called him Dr Juggles so he is hereby officially named Dr Juggles... but that dude is CREEPY

and he shaved vaughnie's head  NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO TOUCH THE SACRED MERCHANDISE!!!

*stares as the janitor sweeps up vaughn's hair and chucks it in the bin*

*wails loudly*

i swear... he could have put a donkey in his head for all i care, but shaving vaughnie's head? :nonono: now that's going an ickely bit too far

*mumbles* who does he think he is anyway?

*bares teeth at Dr Juggles*

what surprises me is that practically no one responded to the surgery yet in the reviews. they're all "omg yay the chip's gone. now s/v can get back together"

maybe i'm just being extremely paranoid?

luv juju :harp:

~Part 99~
~Back to Chitown~

He’d arrived at the airport in the late evening, he asked to purchase a one-way ticket to Los Angeles, but he soon was rejected due to the fact that he was twenty dollars short. After much deliberating he instead bought a ticket to Chicago. Hoping either Joe or Eric would remember him and take him in for a few days until he was properly rested.

As he walked through the terminal he didn’t feel like himself, only due to the fact that he was about to pass out from exhaustion. He was out of it, and didn’t even hear the stewardess ask him if he needed help with his bag. He just walked on by and took his seat. As soon as he was buckled in he fell asleep.

He woke up half-way through the flight while most everyone was sleeping. He slipped past the man sitting next to him and ran to the bathroom as he felt his stomach turn, the lovely side effects of the drugs he had been given.

He closed the door to the bathroom and lifted the toilet seat as he gagged. He flushed the toilet and sat back against the wall. He closed his eyes for a moment but was interrupted when there came a knock at the door.

He got up slowly and opened the door. He glanced at the woman at the door as she smiled harmlessly at him. He slid past her to allow her to use the bathroom and then made his way back to his seat, where he fell asleep once again.

The next time he woke up is when the captain came on the intercom and told them that they were now landing at O’Hare. As soon as the plane came to a halt he took off his seatbelt and got up as people started to exit the plane. He grabbed the only bag he had and walked off the plane and out of the terminal.

He walked outside and hitched a cab and told him to take him to Eric’s old address. He hoped to god he still lived there, otherwise he was screwed.

As the cab stopped on the side of the street he noticed that the building had been renovated, it looked much better than it previously had when he had lived there. He paid the cab driver and got out of the yellow Impala with his bag in hand.

Someone was exiting the building and he quickly ran to the door and caught it before it closed. He walked up to the second floor to apartment 2B and knocked on the door. He leaned against the wall slightly as he waited for an answer.

A few moments later a young woman opened up.

“Can I help you?” She asked as she looked him over.

“Um..Eric. Is he here?” Vaughn asked.

“Yeah, hold on.” She said. She closed the door for a moment, and a few seconds later it opened again.

Eric Weiss stood in the doorway, a look of shock on his face.

“Hey.” Vaughn said.

“Mike! Dude!” Eric leaped forward and hugged his friend. “Syd called and told me you were back, I didn’t expect to see you for awhile though. This is great!”

Vaughn pulled away slightly. “Yeah, it’s great to see you to man. Look, I kinda need a place to crash, it’s a long story. It’ll only be until I can get some money to get back to LA.”

“No problem, come in.” Eric said as he walked back inside.

Vaughn walked into the apartment; the woman that had answered the door was now lying on the couch watching TV.

“Nicole, sweetie.”

The young red head turned around and looked at Eric.

“This is Mike, remember…”

“Oh yeah.” Nicole said. “It’s nice to meet you.”

Vaughn smiled slightly. “You too.” He said. He looked back at Eric. “Dude, is there somewhere I can crash? I’m so tired right now.”

“Yeah, sure, you want me to take your coat?” Eric asked.

Vaughn took off his coat and handed it to Eric.

“Your hat?”

Vaughn shook his head. “No.”

Eric was a bit confused, but didn’t question his best bud.

“Your old room, everything’s how you left it. I’ve cleaned since then though, don’t worry.” Eric said.

“Thanks, Eric. I really do appreciate it.”

Vaughn carried his bag and walked down the hall to his old room. He walked inside and closed the door. Without even turning the light on, he walked over to the bed and fell face first into the pillows. He immediately fell asleep with ease.

He had been sleeping peacefully for hours until he was disrupted by a soft pressure on his back. He took a deep breath and moaned softly as he turned his cheek so his face wasn’t directly in the pillow.

The pressure kept up, and he realized now that it was someone’s hand. Fingers traced up and down his cottony t-shirt. There was a slight scent in the air, and he knew he remembered it from somewhere. He finally opened his eyes and was met by the alarm clock on the side of the bed.

7:45 p.m.

He’d slept through the night before and into the next evening.

There was a slight dip in the edge of the bed, and he turned his head slightly more to see who was sitting next to him.

When he saw her face he froze.

Her hand stopped, but she didn’t jerk it away, it lay still on his back.

“What day is it?” He asked. He was confused, because when he had arrived it had been only a few hours after seven in the evening.

“Tuesday.” She spoke softly. “You’ve been sleeping for almost twenty-four hours.”

They were both still and silent for a moment before he finally pushed himself over on his back. He sighed and looked up at the ceiling slightly before closing his eyes.

“How did you know I was here?” He asked her as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

“Eric called me last night. He told me you were here. Said something was off.” She told him.

He sighed and dropped his hand to his lap as he kept his eyes shut.

“I thought you didn’t care.” He said sort of peeved.

“Don’t start.” She warned him. “I had every right and you know it. You’ve been a jerk for the last two weeks.”

“What you said hurt.”

“Yeah, well what you told me hurt too.” She said. “Telling me that this was something I couldn’t follow you into. How do you think that made me feel?”

“I guess no better than you saying you could live without me.”

“Yeah.” She said. “We were both jerks that day, I admit it. But you can’t blame me for being mad at you. The way you were acting was frustrating the hell out of me.”

“Well I’m sorry.” He said.

“I don’t think that’s going to be enough this time.” She said. “You never used to believe in the word, and now you use it as a way to try to get out of your problems because you don’t want to deal with them. I want to know what happened, all of it.” She said.

“I don’t feel like talking about it.” He told her.

“I do. Don’t you dare turn your back to me again, Michael. Because if I walk out that door this time, I’m not coming back. I’m not going to live like this.” She told him.

“You aren’t going to live like what?” He asked. “You have it f***ing easy.” He told her as he opened his eyes. “Do you have any idea what goes through my mind? How many days I ask myself what I did wrong to deserve all this shi* in my life?”

“Am I included in that?”

He just glared at her.

“Don’t tell me this is f***ing hard for you, Sydney. I keep all this shi*too myself because it drives me crazy, and I know if it drives me crazy then it will be no easier on you, or anyone else I tell for that matter. Would you try to press a POW to talk about his experience in a prison camp?” He asked. “No. And that’s what I am Sydney. I’m a POW. A prisoner of my own god damn life. There are some things that you just can’t understand. It’s better that I keep what happened to me to myself, that’s how I want it to be. I don’t want to tell anyone about it, because talking about it brings me more pain than it relieves.”

She was silent. He got out of bed and walked to the window a few feet from where he was previously lying. He looked out into the alley.

“You really want to know why I went to New York?” He asked. She was still silent. He sighed and shook his head before he grabbed the edge of the knit hat he still wore and pulled it off.

The air was silent. He looked at her reflection in the glass of the window. He could see the shock pass over her face.

“What…”

“They implanted a damn microchip in my head. That’s why I wasn’t feeling good and was agitated for the last few weeks. I met a doctor in New York, and he took it out.”

He looked down.

“There was a man a few years back that had the same thing. It got to point where he couldn’t control himself. He beat his family to death with a baseball bat while they all slept.” He turned his head to the side slightly. “Do you understand now why I wouldn’t stay the night?”

“I try to do the right thing. What I think is best. And it always seems to be wrong. How the f*** do I know what to do anymore?” He asked. “Sometimes I feel like I’ve lost myself due to all this shi*. I feel numb, I’d rather feel pain than nothing.” He said. “You’re the only person who makes me feel something other than nothing, I didn’t want to lose that.”

He fell silent.

He heard her get up from the bed. The springs in the mattress squeaking slightly as she did so. She walked up next to him and brought her hand to his head, touching his bald scalp.

He sighed, his frustration finally gone. He had said everything he had wanted to say, or atleast needed to say.

A second later she brought his head down slightly and kissed the row of stitches on the side of his head.

He closed his eyes. She pulled her lips away and turned him slightly before wrapping her arms around his neck and bringing his head to her shoulder as she hugged him. He wrapped his arms around her and sighed.

“I love you.” He said. “I wanted to say I love you.”

“I know.” She told him. “I know you do. I love you too.”

“Even though I have no hair?” He asked.

She pulled back slightly so she could look at him.

“Unconditionally.” She said softly.

Great chapter. I am sooo glad that Eric called Sydney, and that she came to chicago to see him. How many more chapters. I don't want this to end.

Awwwww, you made it all better. That was a really good ending by the way. I knew it was Syd lying with him on the bed. It would've been a little weird if that were Weiss touching his back. I still would like to see Vaughn bald, I think he would look hot. :P Thank god they're passed this. Maybe now he can move in with her permanantly? Or propose to her for a 3rd time? ;) Great job on the update Kristina!!!
