Just what does it take to make sound effects? (Toy Story 2)

i caught the end of a documentary on the creation of CGI cartoons, this one mainly dealt with the team that created Toy Story2.

Now we all realise computers can only create so many sound and recording real life sounds, then digitising and editing can quickly and easily provide original sounds to use in these film.

take for example, a barbie dolls joints, they used a bendable drink straw. Bouncing sounds from a kids toy, rusting noises from what looked like a thin pastic cake/chocolate tray.

But how did they manage to get the sounds of Woody's horse licking his face? some brave volunteer on the films staff smothered his face in peanut butter, then allowed a live cow to eat it off his face!!!!

i dare anyone to claim copyright on that sound effect
