If any of you are Arthurian followers, you should read "Mists Of Avalon",it is an excellent book!
I read that not too long ago. They're definitely not portraying Guiniviere (sorry for the spelling) the same way, but I think I like a warrior Guiniviere better.

Who was she in Star Wars? Are you thinking abt Natalie Portman?

Les

Yeah... Natalie Portman is in the new Star Wars movies.
Kiera has been in Bend It Like Beckham, POTC, Love Actually, and King Arthur that I know of!

I was kind of looking forward to this movie. I was always one for battle movies, and legends are my favorite! The story of King Arthur is supposed to have action, suspense, romance, battling, and characters you REALLY care about! After reading the first couple of reviews I was feeling really iffy on whether or not I should see it. Now, I am DEFINITELY waiting until it comes on video. Why, you ask?

I READ ANOTHER REVIEW! I'll link you to this review in a sec, but let me just tell you... I read the body of the review, and like the others, they said it sucked. But then I got to the bottom and read how the entire movie ended. I was so befuddled, I almost laughed until I cried.

Here is what they say the ending of the movie is:

They all turn into ponies and ride off into the sunset. No kidding. Ponies.

As I said:

And here is the link to that review. (Caution, contains spoilers, reader discretion is ADVISED! Lots of cursing too...) The Review.

WOw! That was a GREAT review. Very intelligently done. Sounds like the movie is boring AND inaccurate. Nice. :P

One thing I found wrong with his review tho... Arthur wasn't Uther Pendragon. Arthur is Uther's son. Oh well...

That's it!!! Hollywood has disapointed me too many times! First Troy and now this!?!? Jerry Bruckheimer need to be kicked in the nuts for this!

~~Spongy!
LMAO! Yep. I definately agree. ;)

i think the previews of this movie look good, and i'm looking forward to seeing it. i never put much stock in reviews anyway. it seems to me that most critics can't cope with their own creative failures, so they make their living bashing the work of other artists. and i like Jerry Bruckheimer. didn't he do Pirates of the Carribean?

Bruckheimer is only a producer, hardly the creative force behind a picture. The movie gets pitched to him, and if he thinks it sounds good (or if he thinks it will make him $$), he'll agree to produce it.

It's mostly the writing, directing, acting, cinematography, and costume/set design (in that order) that make a flick worth seeing. Whenever you start with a lousy script, you really can't go ANYWHERE! That's probably what happened to King Arthur... although the writer should do better!! He wrote 'Gladiator' and 'Amistad' for God sakes!

But alas, director Antoine Fuqua doesn't really have too many good films under his belt either. Only 'Training Day' (which, by the way, is celebrated only for its acting) could qualify as a good film made under him.

We saw in 'Pirates' that Keira Knightley has some potential, but to carry a whole movie? I guess we'll have to wait and see (that is, if you see this movie). Other leads Clive Owen (Arthur) and Ioan Gruffudd (Lancelot) have much experience working the big screen, but neither a role that is known to be good (nor does the general public recognize their names).

Something tells me that the one thing to remember about this movie will be its cinematography by Polish man Slawomir Idziak. His most recent, big time film, 'Black Hawk Down' is a great example of excellent cinematography (he received an Academy Award nomination for it). I hope he brings his talents in the same ways to 'Arthur.'

In all, by just looking at this movie's crudentials you can tell it will be nothing more than a popcorn flick you see with some friends on the weekend. In a year, it will be forgotten and will never be seen as its tagline claims: "The untold true story that inspired the legend."
