Publish and sell on Lulu
We provide the tools. You set the price. You control the publishing process from start to finish.
Lulu is a place where people can buy or sell many kinds of content. We feature novels, technical manuals, poetry, articles, photographs, animations, and content that defies easy categorization. In other words, we help people distribute information and art that span a wide range of subject matter. As such, we also set out to provide a safe, friendly, and serious site for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Lulu users range from elementary school kids researching papers to grandparents writing memoirs, from companies publishing technical manuals to authors selling their first novels. Because of this wide market, we plan to steer clear of content that might make the majority of our users squirm.

Our community has another maxim, which is that while we support the public domain and alternative licenses for intellectual property, we also support and enforce copyrights, which means that you can't post content that you don't own or have permission to publish.

Below, you will find, in tedious detail, the formal legal terms and conditions for use of Lulu's Web site. Feel free to suffer through them. The bottom line, however, is that we are out to create a destination that becomes a meaningful tool for a lot of people, and that permits the exchange of knowledge and ideas that have real value.

Please don't hesitate to contact support if you have any questions about the statements contained in this agreement.

Lulu is a tool to facilitate the exchange of information and knowledge in the world. Our Site exists to enable users to publish, and other people to purchase, digital content in on-line, CD-ROM, or printed formats. Digital content ("Content") may consist of information, data, text, software, music, sound, photographs, graphics, video, messages or other materials.

By uploading Content to the Site you represent and warrant that the Content:

  • Is owned by you, or to the extent owned by someone else, that you have obtained that party's permission to provide the Content to Lulu for use, copying and distribution under the license in this Agreement;
  • Does not violate any copyright, trademark, trade secret or other intellectual property right;
  • Does not invade any individual's right of privacy or publicity;
  • Does not contain material that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, pornographic, indecent, lewd, harassing, threatening, harmful, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, abusive, inflammatory, or-deep breath-otherwise objectionable,
  • Does not include malicious code, which includes, without limitation, viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time bombs, cancelbots, or any other computer programming routines that may damage, interfere with, surreptitiously intercept, or expropriate any system, program, data, or personal information;
  • Does not break the law, facilitate the breaking of the law, or violate any applicable regulation or Lulu rule or policy;
  • Does not offer or disseminate fraudulent goods, services, schemes, or promotions, or promote domain names, URLs, or hyperlinks that constitute commercial content such as that found in advertising, promotions, or solicitations;
All Users agree not to use the Site to:

  • Upload, post or otherwise transmit any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable;
  • Harm minors in any way;
  • Use "spam," "blast-faxes," or recorded telephone messages to market or sell Content;
  • Interfere with the operation of the Site via the use of viruses, programs or technology designed to disrupt or damage software or hardware;
  • Employ a robot, spider or other process or device to harvest email addresses or other User information or to monitor the activity on the Site.
  • Transmit or post Content that violates the terms described in the section of this Agreement specifically dedicated to Content.
In addition to complying with all restrictions on conduct and Content, you are responsible for adhering to all local and national laws that pertain to your location, wherever you are.

For each sale of User's Content for which we receive payment, Lulu will pay User the royalty amount specified during the publication process. Royalties will be paid on a quarterly basis based on payments actually received by Lulu for the User's Content during the prior quarter. Such payments will be made within 45 days after the end of the prior quarter. In general, Lulu's commission is generated on a per transaction basis by taking 20% of the transaction total.

During the publication process, creators are asked to specify the royalty they will receive for each piece of content they choose to make for sale. In order to calculate the 20% margin, Lulu will mark-up this royalty amount by 25%. For example, if a creator chooses to make a song available to buy via download, he might set his royalty at 80 cents. The price of the download will then be calculated as follows:

Creator royalty: $ .80 Lulu commission: $ .20 Final price of download: $1.00 The minimum mark-up for Lulu's commission is nineteen cents, but if you choose to make your content free, Lulu waives its minimum altogether. Exceptions to the 20% margin rule will be applied in the case of special offers or discounts to authors who purchase their own content in bulk.

Twilightners
by Clifton D. Hawk
Description: In the not-so-distant future, technology moguls use nanotechnology, holograms, and virtual reality to bring more realism to their elaborate, real-world role-playing games. Some convince “civilians” that the special effects are real, which adds yet another layer of spontaneity and unpredictability to the proceedings. Three friends may have found themselves haplessly caught up in one of these “extreme role-playing games”. But, then again, all of the fantastic things that happen to them might actually be real, as the characters with whom they interact insist that they are. Is it possible that myths and legends are more fact than fiction? Can they ever find out for certain? www.twilightners.com

The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect
by Roger Williams
Description: In a time not far from our own, Lawrence sets out simply to build an artifical intelligence that can pass as human, and finds himself instead with one that can pass as a god. Taking the Three Laws of Robotics literally, Prime Intellect makes every human immortal and provides instantly for every stated human desire. Caroline finds no meaning in this life of purposeless ease, and forgets her emptiness only in moments of violent and profane exhibitionism.

At turns shocking and humorous, Prime Intellect looks unflinchingly at extremes of human behavior that might emerge when all limits are removed.

An international Internet phenomenon, Prime Intellect has been downloaded more than 10,000 times since its free release in January 2003. It has been read and discussed in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Slovenia, South Africa, and other countries.

This Lulu edition is your chance to own Prime Intellect in conventional book form.

Ve=E
by Dan Di Francesco
Description: This is book one of a three-book series. I would describe this book as a quasi-futuristic sci-fi detective novel. It has elements of "who done it" complete with cops, robbers and killers. The twist is; that lurking somewhere on the fringes and just below the surface, you will sense there is something deeper to this story. The good news is that you won't be left hanging, but you will want to read book two. Book three is so powerful that it took this book and book two just to prime the reader for what's to come. I believe that you will be thoroughly entertained and absorbed by the concept introduced here.
