There must be pieces of songs that you sing a little louder, smile a little wider to? Or maybe the excerpt almost brings you to tears?

A few of mine--

"Fisherman's Blues" - The Waterboys

I wish I was a fisherman
Tumblin' on the seas
Far away from dry land
And its bitter memories
Casting out my sweet line
With abandonment and love
No ceiling bearin' down on me
Save the starry sky above
With light in my head
You in my arms

"Anniversary Song" - The Cowboy Junkies

Have you ever felt more fresh or wonderful
Than on a warm fall night
Under a Mackerel sky,
The smell of grapes on the wind?

"Empty" - Ray LaMontagne

Well I looked my demons in the eyes
Lay bare my chest
Said do your best
To destroy me
See I've been to hell and back
So many times
I must admit
You kinda bore me

Please do not post entire song lyrics. :stop:
Lol, I'm on a phone. And it defeats the point.

Interesting

I used to have favorite sung parts in songs but my taste has changed with age.
Now, I tend to like the instrumental work best.
Not sure when it happened?

I really enjoy blues guitar and sax.
Love Mexican guitar solos
Piano & keyboards if they are upbeat
by contrast, drum solos have to be really intense or its like , meh.

There are a great many songs that I know the words by heart.

Sugar Sugar by the Archies
(I think everyone knows those lyrics)

Black Money by Sniff N' the Tears

We built this house on love and trust
On something more than bricks and dust
Now we're running down the clock
Waiting for the aftershock

We started out with things to do
Hopes and dreams to pull us through
Now everything is called to doubt
Not much left to dream about

Black money breathes black money crawls
Black money lives inside these walls

It's never really if so much as when
The greed that chills the empty hearts of men
To sate a rich man's vanity they're laying waste to history
The thieves have entered Babylon again

Black money breathes black money crawls
Black money lives inside these walls

The politicians tell us how
It's time to milk the sacred cow
They drop their bombs where children play
Then say it has to be that way

Black money breathes black money crawls
Black money lives inside these walls

One of the blues songs I really like for the guitar work I am learning the words so I can sing along is
Angel O Mine by Ansley Lister

I can see your face,
But I know that you're not there
I can smell your body
Your scent still lingers in the air

Chorus
It's been so long
Since I've held you tight
Angel o mine
It's been so long,
It's been so long
I wanna hold you tonight

I can hold you hand
When I close my eyes
I can feel your body
I can feel it next,
Next to mine
Yes I can
I can hear you voice
As you say goodnight
Angel of mine
It's been so long,
It's been so long
I wanna hold you tonight

Bridge
You make me feel like
I never known
Just for you,
I got so much love to show
U came along out of the blue
I would do anything for you

I'm lying here alone an empty space
Where you should be
I know it won't be long
Till your lying here again with me
No it won't

Chorus
It's been so long
Since I've held you tight
Angel o mine
It's been so long,
It's been so long
I wanna hold you tonight

There is a lot of very good music that have no words at all.
A few of my favorite instrumentals are from Animusic.
Animusic is all about the visuals but if you listen to the songs without watching the videos the songs have great qualities.
Acoustic Curves
Strings, xylophone (keys) + chimes + drums

Aquaharp
Strings, flutes, chimes

Pipe Dream
Strings, drums, keyboards + chimes

Then you have the higher complexity of Animusic 2.
All Animusic is computer generated.

I switched my main music interests to Blues about 10 years ago.
I still listen to some metal, sometimes but mainly I listen to the Blues (guitar blues), easy Rock and instrumentalists.
I do have music that is entirely centered on vocalists but not many.
Beth Hart is a well known blues vocalist.
While I do have a few artists that use scat singing, not many are classed as favorites.
Steelheart is a hard rock group that is known for vocalist pieces.

I'll Never Let You Go is a well known and loved song by that band.
Angel eyes, you have angel eyes, such a smile that lights up my life
You're a dream come true, now I'm holding you
And I'll never, never let you go, I will never let you go!

First time I laid my eyes upon you, all my dreams were answered
First time I kissed your tender lips, my love to you I surrendered

I'll never let you go, you're always on my mind
You're the only one for me, you're all I need
And I'll never, never let you go

Angel eyes, my heart relies on the love you give to me
You never let me down, you're always by my side
And I'll never, never let you go, I will never let you go!

When my heart starts to crumble and the tears start to fall
You hold me close with tender lovin', and give me strength to carry on

I'll never let you go, you're always on my mind
You're the only one for me, you're all I need
And I'll never, never let you go

I'll never let you go, you're always on my mind
You're the only one for me, you're all I need
And I'll never, never let you go

And I'll never, never let you go

another is Mama, Don't You Cry

I fight the tears since you've been gone
And I stand in fear, can I make it on my own
Without your love to guide me thru my life
It's so cold at night without you here
And those gentle arms that held me close and dear
Oh we're all the same, we all live and die
You'll always be in my heart, oh Mama don't you cry
You'll always live in my dreams, oh Mama don't you cry
Every night when I close my eyes
I see a light and shadows of your face
It's always there like an angel over me
So many frozen years hangin' on my wall
A thousand words, I can hear them call
Oh I tried so hard but I could never say goodbye
You'll always be in my heart, oh Mama don't you cry
You'll always live in my dreams, oh Mama don't you cry
No one can kiss away the pain like you
No one like Mama, no one like you

[Solo]

You'll always be in my heart, oh Mama don't you cry
You'll always live in my dreams, oh Mama don't you cry
(You'll always be in my heart, oh Mama don't you cry - don't you cry)
(You'll always live in my dreams) in my dreams (Oh Mama don't you cry)
Oh Mama don't you cry

Govt Mule - Little Toy Brain

So you thought you can handle it, yeah, didn't they all?
So look at the shape that you're in
But fools never compromise, they go out in flames
So out with the old, in with the new
What in the world has happened to you?

What goes on in that little toy brain?
Who'll sweep out the wreckage, who'll sing the refrain?
And after the smoke clears is there anything left?
Did you wash it all away?

So you cried like a baby asking for more
Still you don't know where you've been
Ain't it high time you woke up, took a good look around?
You're killing yourself, damnin' your soul
All in the name of sweet rock and roll

What goes on in that little toy brain?
Who'll sweep out the wreckage, who'll sing the refrain?
And after the smoke clears, is there anything left?
Did you wash it all away?

"Hold me, I'm lonely," you say to yourself
The only one who will listen now
So what does it mean if you finally explain
You were never good at apologies?

I've got some pride left but it's plain to see
It's been earmarked for emergency
So what ever happened to your blind faith?
Did it crumble away like me, like me?

What goes on in that little toy brain?
Who'll sweep out the wreckage, who'll sing the refrain?
And after the smoke clears is there anything left?
Did you wash it all away?
Did you wash it all away?
Tell me, what goes on in that little toy brain?

Sniff N The Tears - This Side of that Blue Horizon

From that blue horizon where the wind blows
Where the deal deciders run on dynamos
Make play with our ambitions charge our vanities
Then track us in the slipstream of a cool breeze

Well you've got to be crazy love
Yes you've got to be a dream
To mean what you mean
What you mean to me

From what dreamhorse dancing did you set my soul alive
Heal the wounds that promised always to survive
You made my isolation seem so self imposed
Following a life of crime in second-hand clothes

Well you've got to be crazy love
Yes you've got to be a dream
To mean what you mean
What you mean to me

Can you hold me hold me with your eyes
Then kiss my memory alive like fire flies
Come on take me raving down your city streets
Down a dark back alley to your cool sheets

Well you've got to be crazy love
Yes you've got to be a dream
To mean what you mean
What you mean to me

Train - Free

Staring at the dark again, you left your silhouette upon my pillow - hey, hey
Right inside the night, I'm waiting for the light, seems like I'm in the middle - hey, hey

Workin for something that I can't touch and sometimes can't even believe in - woh, woh
Cradled by the hands of fate the faith that sometimes wraps around too tight - so tight

They call me free
But I call me a fool - hey, hey
They call me free
But I call me a fool - hey, hey

Well I look back at April, but she won't look back at me - Oh, no, no, no
So I pray in May for June to stay, but she just came to wash into the sea - away

And they call me free
But I call me a fool - hey, hey
They call me free
But I call me a fool - heyah, heyah, heyah, heyah, heyah, heyah, hey

Slipped down to Mexico, started messin with her yellow afro
Slipped down behind the sheets, started talkin bout Pistol Pete, well
Slipped down to the African, started talkin bout what she can do
Well here we are again, back where we started
Slipped down to the dark again, you left your silhouette on my pillow - yeah, yeah
Well I'm right inside the night, I'm waitin for the light
Seems like I'm in the, seems like I'm always in the middle

They call me free
They call me free
Free
But I call me a...

Rory Gallagher - Edged In Blue

I've cried enough tears to fill up an ocean,
Surely you see that my world's been broken?

Here I am, where are you?
Help me please, pull me through.
Here I am, where are you?
All my days are edged in blue.

You made up your mind and nothing can change it,
You want to be free but I can't rearrange it.

Here I am, where are you?
Tell me please, what to do,
Here I am, broken into,
All my days are edged in blue.

I'd go anywhere, if I thought you'd be there,
'Cos I've made up my mind that's where I belong.
I've traveled the world 'cos I couldn't be told,
Told by my heart that you really had gone.

I'd go anywhere, if I thought you'd be there,
'Cos I've made up my mind that's where I belong.
I've traveled the world 'cos I couldn't be told,
Told by my heart that you really had gone.

Yeah...

Our lines got crossed through all things unspoken.
A tangle of knots not easily opened,

Here I am, where are you?
Help me please, pull me through.
Here I am, where are you?
All my days are edged in blue.
Here I am, where are you?
Help me please, pull me through,
Here I am, where are you?
Can't you see I'm edged in blue.
Ohhh...
Ohhh...

Here is what I concider a perfect song.
I find many perfect songs, its merely one of many...

Only Because Of You by Roger Hodgeson (of Supertramp)

And so we sail towards the dawn, joining those who gently mourn for you
It's only because of you
Friends may come and friends may go, the only friend I need to know is you
It's only because of you
Mighty castles, lonely kings, hear the ragged children sing it's you
It's only because of you
He who smiles at lofty schemes, stems the tide of broken dreams is you
It's only because of you

And when the storms have died away, only truth will live to say it's you
It's only because of you
And when the darkness flies away, only love will shine to say it's true
It's only because of you

Here's a video I like to play that has special meaning for me.

Nazareth - Sunshine

Sunshine, every single day
Helps to light my way
And darlin', right before my eyes
It don't come as no surprise
That it's easy
Easy lovin' you

And baby,'til you came along
There was always something wrong
Around me
There was emptiness of course
But it's alright
And it's easy
Easy lovin' you

And sunshine, having you around
You're the light I never found
And darlin',every minute you're away
But it's brighter
And it's easy
Easy lovin' you

This is one powerful song in certain moments

Angel - Feelings

Everyday I try to change my ways,
Still I find I'm calling your name.
Try to stop myself right from the very start,
But to be in love has torn me apart.

I've made it clear I want you near,
That constant fear that you might leave me standing here.
Can't help myself for this torturing inside,
Possessed by love, is the pain I cannot hide.

Chorus:
Feelings, reach out and hold me
Hold me close by your side.

So you see you've become a part of me
A part that helps me to live and breathe.
Now you've gone I need you more and more each day
A selfish need that won't go away

You took my life and the love I've stored,
You took it all and left me nothing but wanting more.
Can't help myself from this torturing inside,
Possessed by love is the pain I cannot hide.

Chorus:
Feelings, reach out and hold me
Hold me close by your side
Feelings, reach out and hold me
Hold me close by your side
Feelings, feelings, feelings, feelings, feelings
Feelings, feelings, feelings, feelings
Feelings, reach out and hold me
Hold me close by your side

And now I realize...
The meaning of good-byes.

It has brought a tear to my eyes more than once...

The first time I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan play was the first time I heard this song and it has stuck as one of my all-time favorites.

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Life Without You

Well hello baby, Tell me, How have you been?
We all have missed you, And the way you grin
The day is necessary, Every now and then
For souls to move on, Given life back again

Fly on, Fly on, Fly on my friend
Go on, Go on and live again, Love again
Cause day after day, Night after night
Sittin' here singin', every, every minute

As the years go passin' by, by, by, by
A long look in the mirror, We come face to face
Wishin' our love we took for granted
A love we had yesterday, Cause Life Without You

All the love, you've passed our way
Angels have waited, for so long
Now they have their way
Take your place....

Here is a live version
Simply amazing!

If you can tolerate some Gospel Music
Phil Keaggy - Salvation Army Band
is a wonderful and talented example of looping in music,
creating a one man band with a guitar.

Grace - gracious love
Reaching out to take me as I am,
Accepting - expecting I will do the best I can
Caring - you cover me, clothed in Your own
Righteousness I am
Exactly - What You've made me, by grace I have found
Favor in the Lamb

Cover me - cover me - cover me.

Mercy - made free to me
Eternal life, a gift that has no end.
Receiving - believing in the mercy You extend.
Cover me - you cover me, clothed in Your own
Righteousness I stand
Your mercy - has made me a part of Your salvation army
Band.

Heart to God, Hand to Man
Saved to Serve, Salvation Army Band

Peaceful sleep
Enjoyed by those whose eyes find rest in you.
Adoring - the glory of Your presence is in view.
Cover me - you cover me, clothed in Your own
Righteousness I stand
Eternally - You made me a part of Your salvation army
Band.

Cover me - cover me - cover me.

Heart to God, Hand to Man
Saved to Serve, Salvation Army Band

I remember this in 1989, I was in flight school at the time, awesome and moody The Cure!
You might like this, or hate it, its all gravy in the navy....The music and bands from my era 1989 back were pretty talented, popularity didn't matter, it was just bands making music, and get this, you could play a and b sides and be impressed with their talents, lately I hear a hit song, I purchase an album or cd, and the rest sux...oh well, I still have my stash....;)

Why do you give so much info on any topic, scale it back bro, its hard to read anything anywhere. We all know you are the sci-fi man, but c'mon, pump your breaks and give other folks a chance. Capeesh?

Why do you give so much info on any topic, scale it back bro, its hard to read anything anywhere.
Why are you so concerned with what I am doing?
Why are you taking offense at what I write.
Do you think I am here for you?

Icky said in another thread (that I know you looked at because I look at what topics others view) that embeds lock up her phone,
this is Icky's thread for lyrics of songs.
Icky stated that she doesn't even look at threads with embeds because it locks up her phone.
This is her version of What Are You Listening To Now without the embeds.
She wanted lyrics, its about the lyrics not the music.
Not only did you post videos embeded, you posted no lyrics.
So now, when she views "HER" thread, it will give her phone problems so she will have to stop viewing this thread so her phone doesn't shut down.
Plus, like so often, by not posting on topic (by not posting lyrics), you have spammed yet another thread intended for a specific purpose.

Now, its pointless to continue posting in this thread because the OP (Original Poster) will not be viewing it. Perhaps she will find a fix for her phone that allows her to view threads with embeds. Then the embeds will be okay but then there's still the issue with off-topic posting.
