Lyrics- Your Favorite Song Snippets

There must be pieces of songs that you sing a little louder, smile a little wider to? Or maybe the excerpt almost brings you to tears?
I listen to a lot of music... a lot of music... and if I was to hear 20 songs on the radio I could likely recall a point in my life for each song. Off the top of my head though there are a few that I can think of.

I will listen to almost any song by Bobby Vinton if I hear it. Not because I care for his music but because my Mom loved him, "The Polish Prince". As soon as I hear any of his music I think back to my Mom and her love of music.

The Tiffany cover of I Think We're Alone Now. No matter what I may be doing hearing just a few notes of that song takes me back to high school and spending time with somebody that, at the time, meant the world to me.

I think we're alone now
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

Better Days by The Goo Goo Dolls. Mrs. Kevin is a huge GGD fan and we've been to several of their concerts, sometimes traveling for mini-getaways to someplace new. There are a few GGD songs I actually like, Better Days in particular, but any GGD song always makes me think of Mrs. Kevin, especially while we were dating and the early years of our marriage.

And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cause I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And designer love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days

In the morning when I do my 20~ mile drive to work I'll have the radio blasting and there'll be songs that take me back to other points. If any in particular stand out I'll update my response. :D

"Little Plastic Castle" - Ani DiFranco

In a coffee shop in a city
Which is every coffee shop in every city
On a day which is every day
I picked up a magazine
Which is every magazine
Read a story, and then forgot it right away
They say goldfish have no memory
I guess their lives are much like mine
And the little plastic castle
Is a surprise every time
And it's hard to say if they're happy
But they don't seem much to mind

(it describes me too closely )

When It's Time to Dance Alone
--words and music by Michael Stanley

I can remember
Every little kiss
And how you would love me
On a rainy night like this
(I believed) that you'd always want to stay
(I believed) oh that love would find a way ...

But now all is quiet
And the phone don't even ring
And I can't imagine
What tomorrow's gonna bring
(I believed) this would always be our time
(I believed) that you'd never change your mind ...

One for the money
Two for the show
Me I'm not ready
To turn and watch you go
Sooner or later
I guess everybody knows
When it's time to dance alone ...

(I believed)
(I believed)

So set 'em up there buddy
Gonna have me one more round
And try to ease this pain that
Like this rain keeps pouring down
(I believed) that I could always make you stay
(I believed) oh that love would find a way ...

One for the money
Two for the show
Me I'm not ready
To turn and watch you go
Sooner or later
I guess everybody knows
When it's time to dance alone ...

(to fade)

EDIT NOTE: I tried to upload the song for you but the site doesn't allow mp3 file extentions.

My Side of the Moment
--words and music by Michael Stanley

Everybody's wanting
To be in your life
Everybody's wonderin' what it might be like
To be with you tonight
And they all got their answers
But they don't know you the way that I do ...

So, welcome ... to my side of the moment
You see it your way, I see it mine
Welcome ... to my side of the moment
This time ... this time ...

Everybody's hoping
That they might be the one
Everybody's praying
That when all's said and done
They'll be the one that you run to
But they don't know you the way that I do ...

So, welcome ... to my side of the moment
You tell it your way, I'll tell it mine
Welcome ... to my side of the moment
This time ... this time ...

Everybody's thinking
That there might be a way
Everybody's waiting
To hear what you'll say
They want to bathe in your wisdom
But they don't know you the way that I do ...

So, welcome ... to my side of the moment
You tell it your way, I'll tell it mine
Welcome ... to my side of the moment
This time ... this time ...

(to fade)

"Dear God" - XTC

Dear God, sorry to disturb you but...
I feel that I should be heard loud and clear
We all need a big reduction in amount of tears
And all the people that you made in your image
See them fighting in the street
Cause they can't make opinions meet about
God
I can't believe in you

It's such a great song -a bitter, angry emotional plea that ultimately answers its own question.
Brilliant
