Midnight

This is my entry to the Short challenge. I hope you like it. It’s very short, just 498 words. Feedback is much appreciated.

Midnight

It was the middle of the night while two figure’s came together in a penthouse apartment in the heart of Los Angeles.

She was married, beautiful and lonely while he was handsome and slightly dangerous. It was wrong, sinful and appetizing. Every night they swore that they would never meet again, but their desire for each other pulled each individual to that space of hope, lust and desire.

The night had become their theme. They both felt trapped in the confines of their lives and only in those secret hours starting from midnight, they could truly be who they were. Thrown away were the responsibilities and crippling fears about someone finding out their midnight secret, nothing mattered except the passion they felt for each other.

As six o’clock would chime, they would return to their mundane lives. She would go back to being the dutiful and loyal wife to someone she had stopped loving a long time ago while he would use his wealth was an easy ticket to flee from the potent memories of her.

When they lay in each others arm, nothing felt more right and at the same time more wrong. He had started hating the word six as it meant that the women he loved, would then return to the bed of the one man he despised more than anything. She would whisper ‘I love you’ before exiting and the clicking of her heels would escort her away from him. Her scent followed him everywhere, it was chamomile and lemon, a unique mixture that had become the symbol of her.

Something in her demeanor was different at this midnight rendezvous. She was edgy, cold and distant. She felt different in his arms, not a single smile rose to her ruby lips during their romantic night, not even when they shared the king-size bed.

Then the words he had been the most afraid of appeared out of her mouth. “I can’t do this anymore, my husband is very close to uncovering the truth”, she kissing him on the lips and started collecting her clothing from the Italian marble floor.

After fully clothes, she glanced at her midnight lover once before disappearing in to the hustle and bustle of early morning. He was left laying on the bed that they had shared on numerous occasions for several months now and where she had become the meaning of his life.

He was going in to win her back, nothing could come between them now when after years of closing his heart, he had finally opened it and let her enter. If he would have to kill, torture or bribe, he would do it to get his angel, his midnight queen to his arms again.

That moment Julian Sark decided that no force in the universe could stop Lauren Reed-Vaughn from becoming his bride and destiny. He smiled and twisted her turquoise scarf around his fingers. She was his, the same way that he was hers, forever.

Aww that was amazing lol!
So soulful. . .I love the way he vowed to win her back in the end.
It showed such a unique side of Sark that we never got to see in the show. :(
