Sci-Fi Moebius & Bilal

Has anyone here read any works by French graphic artists Moebius or Enki Bilal?

I began collecting their graphic novels about a year ago and I am stunned at how many ideas we take for granted as original that were if not directly taken from these works, hugely inspired by them (e.g. princess Leia's look, the Cityscape from Blade Runner, Avatar, etc.)

Looking through these works it seems to me there are two distinct styles in sci-fi movies. The technology driven - rooted in the technically driven films of Méliès, Paul and Lang (Time Machine, War of the Worlds, I Robot, etc.) and then the softer more aesthetic driven works inspired by the French graphic novel sci-fi movement of the fifties and sixties led by Moebius and Bilal - centred around Heavy Metal Magazine originally. Blade Runner, Avatar, etc.)

I think it's no coincidence that these two would have been influenced by French surrealism as they grew up in the 20s.

Has anyone read other influential graphic novelists?
