Hey guys! I just had this idea to write this really quick one time story. I hope you like.

You guys know that I don't own Alias or any of the fine actors, although I wish.

****This is before Sydney and Vaughn ever got together.****

Summery: Vaughn goes missing after a mission gone wrong. Sydney never loses hope in finding him.

Sydney found herself walking along the pier. She found herself doing that for the last three years. Every night after work, she would walk along the pier. Her safe place. She comes to her spot were it over looks the ocean and stops. And every night she does the same thing. She weeps and weeps. Her soul mate, her lover, her friend, and her guardian angel was missing.

It's been three years since Vaughn's been missing. She remembers it like yesterday. Every detail, every moment. She has nightmares about it every night. She blames herself for him missing. She blames herself for everything that goes wrong. She weeps more now, because she has come to the point of regret. The regret of never telling Michael Vaughn how she felt about him.

    Spend all your time waiting
    for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
    there's always one reason
    to feel not good enough

She still hasn't given up hope that she will find him. The hope is that all that is keeping her alive.

"I love you." She whispers to herself

If only she could have told it to him. Forget about SD-6, and the rules. She wish she could have. Maybe if she had, he would have known how she felt.

And it's hard at the end of the day
    I need some distraction
    Oh beautiful release
    memory seeps from my veins
    let me be empty
    and weightless and maybe
    I'll find some peace tonight

At the end of the day she comes her. The pier is her distraction from the loneliness, and the heartache. The memories of that horrid night come crashing into her brain. Forcing her to remember every detail.

"So Vaughn, when this is over, you owe me that dinner." She said smiling

He laughed "And you owe me a hockey game." He shot back

She smiled "Your right, I do."

It was time. They were suppose to set the bomb and get out. Blow up the lab, and get out. It was suppose to be easy. Nobody there, and no reason for anybody to get hurt. An easy job to be completed. For Sydney and Michael it didn't go that way.

They set the bomb, and Vaughn demanded Sydney to go ahead. She resisted, but Vaughn won in the end. She went out first. Vaughn stayed to make sure that everything was set. He radio to Sydney to make sure that she was out, and safe. That's all that he cared about. Was she safe.

"Syd, are you out?" He asked over the com

She smiled, he always cared. "I'm out! Now get the hell out of there Vaughn!" She yelled back

Vaughn smiled and made sure everything was in place. Out of no where men came and ambushed him. He fought most of them off, but it was to late. The bomb had been set to go off. A guard by mistake made the wrong choice in cutting the wire.

Sydney hears Vaughn struggle, and fight.

    "Vaughn, Vaughn!" She yells

Vaughn menages to fight the remaining men off. He dashes through the halls. He looks for his exit point. It's still a far distance, and he only has one minute.

"Vaughn I'm coming after you." He hears Sydney scream

He turned his link on as he ran. "No Sydney, I'm fine. The bomb has been sent off. It' going to blow in thirty seconds. Run far away Syd, never stop running." He responded

She did as he instructed. She ran and ran. "Vaughn where are you, I don't see you?" She asked panicked

That's when her worst nightmare happens. The bomb goes off, and Vaughn is no where in sight. Sydney falls to the ground from the impact. She wakes a couple of minutes later with a banged up head, and a broken arm.

"Vaughn, Vaughn where are you?" She yells

She sees nothing but smoke every where. It's a ghost town. Her eyes begin to water, as she hears nothing but static in her ear piece. She feels a touch on her shoulder, and immediately turns around.

    "Vaughn!" She yells

She's mistaken. She stares into the eyes of her father. He has a sad look in his eyes. The one when you know something terrible has happened. The look that someone has died.

"It's time to go." He said with no emotion

She starred back, and she with anger "I'm not leaving without Vaughn." She yelled

Jack's stare didn't even filch. No emotion in his voice. "Vaughn's dead Sydney." He said

    "No!" She yelled

She kept repeating no, and no over again, until she passed out.

    End Flashback

A year went by, and another, and another. She didn't believe the excuse the CIA gave her, and to this day she still doesn't. A signal tear rolls down her cheek.

"Vaughn is still alive." She argued with the group.

"Sydney that is physically impossible. I mean you were farther away, and you almost died, not to mention your broken arm. Vaughn was still far away from his exit point, and only had a minute. He couldn't have survived the blast. It's not possible." Kendall said

"I don't care what you believe. I know that he is alive, and that he is out there. And I know he is just waiting for me to come and find him." She yelled back crying.

She stormed out of the office.

    End Flashback

She weeps more now. The memory being to much for her.

"I still walk out on them. I still fight for you. I know you are out there, and I know that I just have to find you." She whispered again

In the arms of the angel
    fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from this wreckage
    of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there

"I miss you so much. I miss talking to you. I miss our meeting together, and I miss your arms around me. Even if it was for comfort. I always knew that you loved me. I just wish I knew for sure. I just want to know if you love me as much as I love you." She whispered out into the ocean.

She sees his image above her. She now weeps harder. She just wishes that she could be pulled away from the pain and the hurt. She wishes she could be pulled into the arms of her own guardian angel.

She wipes some tears away. Anger comes to her mind now. The same routine every night. Angry that all her leads come to a dead end. Angry that for three years she been lonely. Angry that she is the reason he is gone. Angry that she can't hold him, and tell him how much she loves him.

If only she had a second chance.

"I'm so sorry Vaughn. I never meant for this to happen. You always told me that I was brave, that I could do anything. The truth is, I can't. I need you. You were the reason I could do anything. My reason for fighting for. I'm going to keep on fighting to find you, but I'm slowly losing the battle. I can't do this anymore. I can't wake up, and face another day without you. Please, if your out there give me a sign." She begged

So tired of the straight line
    and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back
and the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lie
that you make up for all that you lack

She walks along the pier some more. She stops at their place. The place for which she calls home now. She smiles when she remembers Vaughn holding her hand. For him always being there for a late night talk. He smile fades. Her tears once more takes control.

"I never not stop thinking about you. This is the only place I can come anymore. My father and Kendall swore to cut me out of the CIA if I didn't stop trying to find you. They keep telling me that your dead, and to move on. I don't know how to do that without you." She went on

Jack hardly talked to his daughter about Vaughn. He did pressure her to stop looking. He tells her everyday that he is dead. He doesn't want to keep her in pain. He doesn't want her to have all the hope, and then only find out what they have been telling her in the end. He can't watch that. He has to watch her die a little bit everyday, and he took doesn't know how much more she can take.

"I love you...." She whispers again

All her good memories sweep there her brain. His smile, his body, his touch, his laugh, his kindness. Everything about him. But it all leads back to that night three years ago. She cries some more.

It don't make no difference escaping one last time
it's easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees.

It gets to much for her now. To many memories. Good ones, and bad ones. She falls to her knees, and just cries. She looks into the sky, and finds the star that she wishes into every night.

"Please....please come home Vaughn. Even ifs it's only for a day. I just need to see you, to hold you, and to tell you how much I love you. I need you, please....."

She cries a little before she goes on.

"I wish you can be here with me. I will never give up hope. I will never stop looking for you. I will never stop loving you." She added

Her last and final word before the tears take over

    "Never......" She repeats

She lays on the cold pier cement. Hoping that whatever comfort it has it will bring to her. Anything to make her forget. Forget the pain.

In the arms of an angel
    fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
    of your silent reverie

A warm touch appears on her shoulder. A strange feeling comes over her. She knows that touch. She knows that feeling that is going throughout her body. Only one person could do that to her.

She whips her head into the direction of the touch. Her eyes meet a soft and warm green pair. could it be? Is it another dream? Is this real?

She just stares at him. She so bad wants to believe it's real. She knows there is only one way to find out. She extends her hand out, and gently rests in on his arm. It doesn't fade away like before.

    Could it be?

She sits in a up right position. she stares more at him now. A tiny bit of a smile reaches her face. He hand moves from his arm to reach his face. Her hand lands on his cheek. It once again doesn't fade away.

He extends his hand and does the same. He touches her soft cheek, and caresses it. He gently wipes away a tear. She moves into his touch. It feels so good. It feels like it use too. It's him.

    "Michael..." She moans

His hand stops, and she opens her eyes. She's ready for the dream to end. For her eyes to open, and for him to fade away. He doesn't fade away. In a tiny, and choked up sound her answers

    "Syd.." He says

Her name. Only one person could say her name with such love and passion, and it was Michael Vaughn. It was him. He was back. She grabbed on.

She pulled him into a hug, and in return he did the same. Both not letting go. Fear of what would happen if they did.

You're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there

After what seems like hours, she finally pulls apart. She looks into those green eyes that she so much missed. She looks deep into them, and he looks deep into hers.

"I love you!" She says to him

He smiles knowing that she feels the same way.

"I love you too." He repeats to her.

For the first time in ever they kiss. It's slow at first, and then it gets more intense. For all the times and years that kept them apart. Once it ends, she looks back into the eyes she so much missed.

"I don't know how, or why, but I..I.. am so glad. I love you Michael Vaughn. I love you. I will never give up, I will never lose hope." She cried to him

He wiped the tears away. Her guardian angel was back.

"I know you never lost hope. That's how I made it back. I found my way back to you. I heard you calling. I know I have to explain, if even I can explain what happened, but all that matters is that I made my way back to you. I found you again, and I know that you love me. To know that you are in my arms again is all that matters to me." He said softly.

She cried more. Happy this time. "I love you too. Always, always...always..always"

She kept repeating. Always and forever they would be together.

Vaughn pulled her into his embrace, and held her tight. They never let go. They never lost hope.

You're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

It was suppose to be the end, but due to wanting more, I added more, so read on!

Wow - 3 years, they weren't even together before he disappeared, and she still hasn't given up. Too bad someone else wasn't like that! your imagery was just beautiful - I could almost feel her pain.

Oh sydVaughn1001, the reason I said 3 years was because I wanted it to go with the title. The fact that after 3 years she still hasn't given up hope. Also to show how much she really did love him.

    Thanks for reading

    Love ya,

Wow Lauren, that was great! I LOVE that song, I have the CD. ;)

Amazing. And the only thing sadder than the story, is the fact that it's only a one parter. -_-

I wish you would write more! Perhaps a sequel?
