New sci-fi e-book (Kindle and Nook)

My husband just launched his new ebook on Kindle and Nook and I couldn't be more proud, both of him and of his work! If you like accessible military sci-fi, or just well-edited indie authors, maybe you'd like to check it out: This Corner of the Universe for his website, and easily searchable on Kindle and Nook ("This Corner of the Universe" by Britt Ringel) to try the sample...

The first command of an officer haunted by his actions on his previous assignment, the mission of BRS Anelace was supposed to be simple and uneventful…

Sent to patrol and protect the interests of Renard Mining Enterprises in the remote Skathi solar system, the new captain should have had ample downtime to bond with his crew. Much to their surprise, Captain Garrett Heskan and his officers discover sabotaged navigation buoys and suspicious freighter activity that suggest a sinister presence in the system. Soon Anelace finds herself outnumbered and outgunned in a race against time to save the civilians operating Renard’s lone ore processing station from the threat that would drive the Republic from the valuable asteroid fields orbiting the Skathi star.

From the author: Welcome readers! This Corner of the Universe combines my love of science fiction with my military experience, introducing a universe of political turmoil, fallible leaders and emerging technologies. In this first book, a single starship in an isolated environment is fighting against long odds of survival. Get to know the crew of Anelace, as this ongoing series explores the careers and lives of this family of characters while recalling the spirit of the age of sail and military tradition.

{Edit by Kevin to fix image links}

Hi, Kevin, thanks. To be honest, I can't remember trying to upload more than just his cover art. Whatever those two broken image links are, they were unintentional. I'm not sure if/how I can edit my original post, but if you want to just delete whatever those were, please go ahead, and thanks again for the heads up.

By the way, response to the book even in these first few days has been very positive, so a big Thank You to anyone in this community who has checked it out!

No problem, I edited the first post a bit to remove the extra links and to use the full size attached image. :smiley: For editing your posts you should see an "edit" link in the lower left corner of each of your posts. If you don't see them let me know as it means I configured something wrong.

Glad to see you guys are getting good responses! If there is anything we can do here to help out, just give the word.

I like the image of the ship, and am a sucker for reading sci-fi (big surprise)...also seems like it has the makings of a decent storyline from the plot summary above.

I'll be sure to check out a sample on my Nook soon, because I just can't seem to get into this fantasy novel that B&N plugged on their blog a few weeks back (glad it was one of their free Friday giveaways).

Hi guys,
Just posting again (although I do peruse the forums quite a bit) to let you know that the sequel to This Corner of the Universe is out now on Kindle and Nook. The new one is called No Way to Start a War. If you enjoyed This Corner of the Universe (fyi, it has a different cover and snappier description now on Amazon and B&N than originally posted above, but the book is the same), you might check it out. I continue to be the proud wife. :smiley: Here's the summary for No Way to Start a War:

Garrett Heskan isn’t sure which is worse… going to war against the Hollarans while commanding an untested starship, or reporting to Lt. Commander Durmont.

Lieutenant Heskan knows his escort destroyer, BRS Kite, must protect the fleet carriers assigned to Durmont’s escort squadron, but with his ill-prepared ship, the squadron’s arrogant commander and the fledgling nature of stellar aviation, Heskan’s work is cut out for him. What starts out as a simple Brevic attack into the Hollaran Commonwealth soon becomes a fight for survival in a series of battles that could alter the balance of power in the known universe. Conflicts abound in No Way to Start a War, between fleets, leaders, and cultures.
