No Place (SyFy with Robert Zemeckis)

Alien Soup

Head Chef
The SyFy Channel with director & producer Robert Zemeckis (Back To The Future, Forrest Gump, Contact) are teaming up on a planned new show, No Place. The show is based on the comic graphic novel The Test by Matt Hawkins & Joshua Hale Fialkov. Writers John Brancato and Michael Ferris (Terminator Salvation) are currently attached to the project.

The official description for the show is...
Residents of a high-tech gated community awaken one morning to find themselves alone and cut off from the rest of reality -- nothing exists beyond the community's walls. Only one man has contact with the powers responsible for what is known as 'The Rift', and he must lead his fellow residents beyond the void to discover the truth.

I am thinking the origins of this show came about like this.
  • Robert Zemeckis watches "Dark City"...
  • Some suit at SyFy, which is owned by NBC, isn't crazy about the attention CBS is getting for their adaption of Stephen Kings "Under The Dome"...
  • Somebody realizes that there is a graphic novel out there with a kinda-sorta same premise and graphic novel adaptations like "The Walking Dead" are hot right now...
  • The perfect storm when all three come together for "No Place!"
