who knows...it would be nice for chicago or lotr to win since the academy(not that i have any faith in the academy whatsoever) seldem honors anything other than high drama...which is why i think the hours will win. the pianist...a bit too obscure, but it was the one that everyone said was amaaaaizing...

just so you know...i despise the academy and put no faith whatsoever in their decisions...the oscars dont really mean anything cause the great really great movies never win anything...just look at past years...the movie considered by most critics to be the greatest movie of all time barely got a nod...just cause they were afraid of Hearst...Citizen Kane! good god! if it was really about art and making movies...where are Real Women Have Curves and Far From Heaven?

Should I say what I said before? I'd love it if LOTR won, but I highly doubt it. Even though the first and second have been fantastic, it doesn't get some of the recognition it deserves.

None of the movies I like ever win, so my vote doesn't count. But I'm rooting for Chicago or LOTR (even though we all know the Academy people are butts and will probably give it to Gangs of New York... sorry to people who like that movie, but I'm prejudiced with my musicals and fantasies...)

    My prediction is this....
Even though Lord of the Rings the Two Towers is the audience favorite (I'm included in this group, I'd love TTT to win) I think the Oscar will go to Chicago. Lord of the Rings doesn't have much of a chance since the Acadamy is so biased. They don't like fanatasy, they like historicals, they don't like sequels, they like first time movies. The only other sequel to win an Oscar was The Godfather II.
It really shows that the Academy doesn't like LOTR this year. Last year they got 13 nominations, this year 6. Even though LOTR should have gotten all thirteen again this year in my opinion. Peter Jackson was even overlooked as Best Director!

He was last year, so I sort of expected that. I hope that the third pays for all, though!

I think the third will get more than the first one did.

I totally agree!! If The Two Towers doesn't win I will be REALLY mad but hopefully it will win next year for Return of the King (even though it is unlikely)!!

Though the Two Towers was amazing, I think the trilogy will have it's best chance with The Return of the King, I loved the Towers but I don't think it will get best picture :( . The two movies that I think will be going to head to head are Chicago and The Hours. I have my fingers crossed for The Hours! The acting was unforgettable and the film itself blew me out of the theater (y)

I know, I have decided to ignore the acadamy. In my opinion FOTR had the best chances of winning best picture. Maybe ROTK will be really really outstanding. I felt nominations for The Two Towers was quite disappointing on the Acadamy's behalf though.

I just gave up on the oscars. They are rigged anyway. FOTR should have won every single thing it was nominated for  Ian McKellen should have won by far.
