I'm definitely partial to the Canon. I have a make believe one ^_^ I've been doing a lot of reading up on the latest Canons, so I feel like I'm gonna get one even though I have no plans or money to
How much is the A80? I think it's 4 megapixels, maybe $100 more though. The A75 would still be a good choice though. Would you be printing out large pictures? A 4 megapixel camera would be better for printing, and they're larger on-screen tooo (obviously
).
Canon most likely has more manual features. The Powershot s60 has a lot more than the A-series, but it's $500. The s50 is also a very good camera for a lot cheaper than the s60, but it's an older model and few places sell it anymore, so Staples probably won't have it.
You should go see which camera you like in your hands better, it often comes down to preference. The average camera user wouldn't know how to operate several manual functions, so the auto setting would produce *about* the same results.

You must love your camera if you gave it a nickname, Sophie
