Politics General

but whats the point of pointin out problems if yall cant do nuttin bout it? its juss more stress for the people...whats happenin in our country that has been goin on for a long time should juss keep goin on...

he has advisors according to what AliasHombre says so sometimes his decisions are not even his to start with. and unless you work for the government itself, i don't think you know any better than the rest of us.

I'm basically w/ Milo here. The president plays a HUGE roll in our government. Yes, Congress makes plenty of decisions as well, but someone has to be the executive branch. He has advisors, but so do other corporations. The pres has authority over the military and enacting laws among SO many others. Take a look at the constitution...;) Just b/c he has advisors doesn't mean he isn't making decisions.

And if one were to take to saying the pres makes no decisions....then that person would have no right to say the president is making the WRONG decisions. If that were the case...the advisors would be at fault, and no American would have reason to blame the pres. Is that what you're saying?

the US is just staying over there to protect the citizens of Iraq from terrorists who are still to this day living there and attacking the US Troops.  Democracy will work, the Iraqi people and the US and other nations must fight for them in order for the Tyranny to fall and for them to get back up on their feet.
but who are we to impose our form of government on another country? just because democracy works for us doesn't mean it will work for everyone and we have no right to force another country to accept it.

and lawrence - that's okay with the quotes. just as long as we don't have like ten quotes in one post like we did several pages ago. that drove me crazy. :P
I really don't think democracy will work well in Iraq. Life is different there than it is here.

I agree with Milo here... Bridget IS smart!

But, I have to go back to Jimmy Carter here... that man really didn't have much say in anything. Congress just overpowered him. But that is one of very few (I think... I don't truly know) exceptions.

Okay... I stated that education is a problem in this country. I can't come up with a complete solution, 'cause I know that what Aliashombre quoted is pretty accurate (what book is that from, btw?), and if I did have the solution, then I think I'd be pursuing a career other than psychology. Anyways... it's good that tax dollars are being put into education... but money isn't enough. We need to have more people who actually CARE about education... we can't just throw money at the education system and expect it to right itself.

Though I guess ignorant people sometimes just want to STAY ignorant. Which is why they're ignorant to begin with.

And I agree, again, with what Cherry said before, about democracy not being for everyone. Austria is socialist, and they seem to be doing very well.

Time out for a sec...just b/c a president got C's isn't a basis to say he's unacceptable as president! Take Bill Gates...from what I can recall he dropped out of college and look where he is now.

I do hope that was sarcasm and I just couldn't tell, b/c C's in high school is no reason a person to put Bush down...

Why is he the stupidest president?
He got mostly Cs in high school.

I mean that's OK for many things.... but not PRESIDENT.
definitely, I agree
Fortunately he's not the pdt of my country but unfortunately the US (sort of) control the world !! for example if your president decides to reduce the gas something (sorry but I only know this term in french) it would be awesome for the planet
