Would young Carl Grimes be less traumatized by the undead apocalypse featured in the Walking Dead comics if he could play with compact, zombie-themed toys? Alas, we’ll probably never know. But we do know that Walking Dead writer Robert Kirkman‘s Skybound comics imprint and Diamond Select Toys have announced that Series 3 of their Walking Dead Minimates will hit stores this spring. The series will feature characters from the franchise’s prison storyline including Rick, Tyreese, and Hershel (all of which you can see below).
It has also been announced that Kirkman and Diamond Select Toys will judge a contest featuring fan videos utilizing The Walking Dead Minimates already available. The videos should tell an original story based on the universe of The Walking Dead and be no more than 60 seconds in length. The prizes for the winner? A personally autographed The Walking Dead Compendium and an autographed set of The Walking Dead Minimates Series 3. Additionally, the winning video will run on the Skybound website, where you will also find the competition rules. The contest will end on Feb. 5 and the results will be announced Feb. 10.
