A new version of the comic strip coming out shortly from Lionsgate and the arguments start again about using different actors, storyline, budget, direction.
Let's start the argument by taking the new Frank next to the comic book Frank :
Ray Stevenson is available to watch in the recent military horror film : Outpost. Apparently this film even with restricted budget and appalling russian accents is quite watcheable.

The official website has two images in its gallery of Ray and whilst you initially think he looks nothing like the Punisher of the last two films, think about the image from the comic books above quickly before arguing that point in your head.
And now, more superheros, more anti heroes, more comic book heroes, MORE SCIFI!!
There are a lot of things being redone, continued and rehashed, but there are still some new items coming out of the industry (considering the writers strike and people arguing over copyright and rights to film)

The Sci Fi Channel is developing a series based on comic The Stranded.
The title, launched in print last summer under a deal between Sci Fi and Virgin Comics, is about five seemingly ordinary people who discover they are from an alien planet.
Others from the planet are sent to Earth to hunt them down.
Sci Fi and Virgin agreed early last year to jointly launch comics, then - depending on their success - take them to television and film. The Stranded, written by Mike Carey (X-Men), was the first product and Sci Fi yesterday confirmed it was being developed for TV.
When the comic was launched Sci Fi's general manager Dave Howe said it had "the power and potential to come to life everywhere their story is told".
Virgin chief executive Sharad Devarajan added: "This partnership with Sci Fi creates an opportunity for comic writers to develop stories that move far beyond the printed page."
Of course, we have to consider the possible blasphemy in the remake of The A Team scheduled for 2009 :

The A-Team movie has a release date of June 12, 2009 and will be directed by John Singleton.
The director, whose credits include Shaft, Four Brothers and 2 Fast 2 Furious, was first linked to the job in December.
Michael Brandt and Derek Haas have written the script for the big-screen adaptation of the popular 1980s TV show, reports Variety.
The film will reportedly update the characters' back-stories to establish them as veterans of the Gulf War rather than Vietnam.
No casting for the movie has been confirmed yet. However, rapper-turned-actor Ice Cube said he would be interested in the role of B.A. Baracus, originally played by Mr T, if Singleton was at the helm.
And then of course, new material in the form of Kickass :
Matthew Vaughn directing 'Kick-***'

Stardust director Matthew Vaughn will co-write and direct a big-screen version of the comic book Kick-***, reports Ain't It Cool News.
The filmmaker will work on the script with Stardust writer Jane Goldman.
Kick-***, written by Mark Millar and drawn by John Romita Jr, portrays the life of high school student Dave Lizewski, who becomes obsessed with the idea of real-life superheroes. After constructing a costume, the character becomes a crime-fighting vigilante.
Vaughn, who previously produced films for Guy Ritchie, also directed 2004's Layer Cake.
I think we are almost running 50/50 on this, so we will have to leave you with a cringeing feeling at the Van Damme/Kylie colourful live action version of Street Fighter whose second pisode of the franchise is also in the works :

Publisher Capcom has announced the main cast for the forthcoming live-action Street Fighter movie based on its popular video game franchise.
The new film, which will be distributed by 20th Century Fox, will be centred around fan favourite Chun-Li, portrayed by actress Kristen Kreuk (Smallville).
Michael Clark Duncan (The Green Mile), Neal McDonough (The Hitcher) and Taboo from Black Eyed Peas will all have starring roles in the film.
The original 1995 Street Fighter movie, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, was slammed by the critics, with Time Out describing it as a "noisy, brainless mess."
The new Street Fighter flick is being made by Hyde Park Films and will be released worldwide in 2009 as part of Capcom's Street Fighter 20th anniversary celebrations.
