Really cool "Alien Art" painting

Just came across this painting on ebay. I know it's surrealistic art but seems to be painting of alien creatures, totally cool. Artist's name is Paiu. Posted the detail pic but there's images of the entire painting here.

I wonder if there is a story behind it (eg: the one character wearing a number while another is wearing a swimsuit) or if it totally random.
