Solar power, high-efficiency appliances and sustainable agriculture are all good things, but you've not properly gone green until you've started turning unused household objects into your own droid army. That's what Nerdbot creators "Nicholas and Angela from Kansas City, Missouri" (as they call themselves) did, and the result is something that mixes cute with retro cool for an affordable pricetag. We've got some more examples of their handiwork below.

According to the official Nerdbot site, the origin of this particular robot revolution was humble:

Oddly obsessed with all things robot, married couple Nicholas and Angela from Kansas City, Missouri, decided on a whim one day to do nothing other than to build one themselves. After piecing together parts found at their favorite antique and thrift stores, they created their first robot friend. Since that first day, Nicholas and Angela have added many fabulously geeky robots to their beloved robotic collection.

The 'bots sell for between $150 and $200, and each comes with its own name and personality; to complete the Cabbage Patch Kids feeling of it all, the website's link to the page where you can choose your own bot says "Adopt-A-Bot." Awww.

Somewhere between "Steampunk" and "Kitsch" we would find Nerbots.

Those two in the very last pic, bottom right, would like so good in the collection.
