Chapter 2
A/N: For Syd and Vaughn’s wedding date, I just picked a random date.
The next morning, Vaughn woke up before his alarm clock. He turned it off so
it wouldn’t wake up Sydney. Vaughn knew there was no way he and Sydney would make it to work today, so he got up and called in sick. Vaughn threw on his boxers and went downstairs to start a pot of coffee. He went back upstairs
to check on Sydney and saw that she was starting to stir. She took her arm
and felt around for Vaughn and noticed he wasn’t there. She slowly opened
her eyes to see Vaughn watching her from the doorway.
”Why are you over there, Vaughn? And why do you have those boxers on?”
”I went to start you some coffee and I didn’t want to take the chance of
Weiss stopping by and seeing me naked.”
”Did you say coffee?” Sydney said suddenly more awake. Vaughn walked over to Sydney’s bag and got out a robe for her. Vaughn help Sydney put it on before grabbing her hand. They walked downstairs together. Sydney sat down at the
table in Vaughn’s kitchen as Vaughn went to get them some coffee.
”Vaughn, when is your mom getting in town?”
”A week from Friday.”
”What day, exactly, do you want to get married on?”
“Probably near the end of next week, so we can leave right away on our
honeymoon.”
”Do you know what day your mom is leaving?”
“Probably Sunday morning, so do you want to get married on Friday or
Saturday?”
”I’d prefer Saturday, that way we don’t leave your mom alone or anything.”
”Perfect. We are going to be married June 5.” Sydney got a huge smile on her face.
”I’m going to be Mrs. Michael Vaughn.”
”And I’m going to be Mr. Sydney Bristow.”
”Smart-ass.”
”You always like to mention my ass don’t you.”
”Shut up.”
”When do you want to go see Will and Francie?”
”I’m sure they both went to Francie’s Restaurant for the day, we could go surprise them then eat lunch while we’re there.”
Vaughn just smiled.
”What?” Sydney asked.
”I’m just so happy.”
Vaughn’s smile must have been contagious, because now Sydney has a mega-watt smile.
”Me, too honey.”
Sydney and Vaughn spent the afternoon making wedding plans such as booking the pastor, or what flavor cake they would have. Sydney decided to have Francie as her Maid of Honor and Jenny as a bridesmaid. Weiss was Vaughn’s best man and Will was his groomsman. Now they just had to tell them they were getting married.
Sydney and Vaughn were about to walk out the door when the phone rang.
Sydney was closest to the phone and figured it was her dad calling to chew
them out about calling in sick.
”Hello?”
”Hello, can I speak to Michael?”
“Let me get him.”
”Wait, is this Sydney?”
“Yes it is.”
”This is Amelia, Michael’s mother. Oh! I’ve heard so much about you. I can’t
wait to meet you next week.”
“Me either. Here’s Michael. It was nice to talk to you Mrs. Vaughn.”
”You, too sweetheart and call me Amelia.”
”Okay, goodbye Amelia.”
Sydney handed the phone to Vaughn.
”Hey mom.”
”Hey baby, I love her already, she’s a sweetie. Sydney’s a lot better than
that Alice woman. I never liked her.”
Vaughn chuckled “I have something to tell you Mom. Sydney and I are getting
married.”
”It’s about time.”
”That’s not all; we’re getting married next week while you’re in town.”
”Is she pregnant?”
”Not yet. Why would you ask that?”
”I was wondering why you were getting married so quickly.”
”Just because we love each other.”
”Good, now don’t buy any wedding rings, I want you to have your grandparents, the ones your father and I used.”
”Mom, you don’t have to do that.”
”I want to.”
”Okay. Listen mom, Sydney and I have to go out to lunch, but I’ll talk to
you later.”
”I love you baby.”
”Love you, too mom… bye.”
Vaughn hung up the phone and turned to Sydney.
”She loves you already, Syd.” Sydney smiled.
”She wants us to have my grandparent’s wedding rings; the ones she and my
dad had.”
“She doesn’t have to do that.”
”That’s what I said, but she won’t take 'no' for an answer.”
”Vaughn, I love your mom.”
”I knew you two would love each other right away.”
”I can’t wait for her to tell me your baby stories.”
Vaughn groaned, “Syd…”
”Vaughn…”
”Please don’t do that to me.”
”Aww. Too bad baby, now we’ve got to go see Fran and Will.”
Vaughn held out his hand for Syd and she gratefully took it.
”Let’s go.”
Sydney and Vaughn pulled into the parking lot of Francie’s restaurant 15
minutes later.
”Are you ready to see them Syd?”
”Yeah, I’ve missed them so much.”
Vaughn and Sydney got out the car and walked into the restaurant. Francie
immediately saw them.
”Oh my God, you guys, how are you here? Aren’t you still supposed to be on
the Real World?”
”We are, but something happened. I’ll tell you some other time.” Sydney said, “Where’s Will, we have something to tell you.”
”He’s in the back, I’ll go get him” Francie practically squealed. She gave Syd and Vaughn a quick hug and went in the back to find Will. They came back a minute later. Will couldn’t believe that Syd and Vaughn were really here.
”I can’t believe you’re here. Now what do you have to tell us?”
“Vaughn and I are getting married June 5th.” Francie squealed with joy. Will
was happy for them and gave them both a hug.
”I can’t believe this. when did this happen? I’m so happy for you two.”
Francie said enthusiastically.
“We actually were having a fight, and it sort of just happened.” Vaughn smirked.
”Let me see the ring,” Francie demanded.
Sydney held out her hand, Francie gasped when she saw the ring.
”Will take notes, this is beautiful” Francie mused.
”There’s more news.” Sydney said interrupting Francie.
”You’re pregnant?” Will asked.
”No! Why does everyone keep saying that?” Vaughn asked. Sydney just laughed at him.
”No, but we’re going to try. Francie you’re going to be my Maid-of-Honor and
Will you’re a Groomsman.”
“Really?” Will and Francie asked in unison. They were ecstatic about that.
Sydney, Vaughn, and Will sat down at a table while Francie went to make them all some lunch.
”I’m so happy for you. My little Sydney’s growing up,” Will said pinching Syd’s cheeks.
”Will, you better stop; remember I can kick your scrawny little ass.”
The rest of the afternoon was spent in talking about the wedding and eating
some of Francie’s delicious food.
