Politics Rules of Respect

All of our rules should be followed in each and every forum.

However, we want to put a very strong emphasis on these rules for this forum:
  • Personal attacks against other members, also known as flames, are not allowed. Even if it may seem like a joke to you, the other person may not see it that way. And even if they do, it is likely that others won't.
  • Many people often wonder where the line is between criticism and a flame. Criticism is constructive, while a flame is rude.Flames attack the poster him/herself, while constructive criticism politely disagrees with a person's ideas.
  • Respect for the people in the public eye (celebrities, etc) is also important. Although criticism is fine, personal attacks are not. Please also respect their privacy. Yes, they are in the public eye. But that doesn't mean that we as a community shouldn't do the right thing. This includes spreading rumors and gossip. Threads of this nature will be closed.
  • Feel free to disagree with another member's opinion or stance on an issue. However, it is never OK to insult a member?s nationality, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or age. You can say "I don't really agree with that religions stance on ____", but never say "That religion is stupid" or something similar. This includes using a term to describe a nationality, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or age in a derogatory or demeaning way.
  • Please do not curse excessively. Just because the boards automatically censor common curse words doesn't allow you to use them more. And please do not try to circumvent the censors in any way.
Failure to comply with the above rules, or just immaturity in general, may result in your access to the Serious Discussion forum being removed, with the possible addition of other punishment(s).
