[s]Nominate[/s] Victor Inducted for Canada's Walk of Fame

I submitted a nomination for Victor.

It requested "Province" in the application, but the voting requirements didn't ask for Canadian citizenship nor Canadian Residence, so it seems as if Americans and Europeans could vote for Victor if the enter their "State" or Country under the part asking for "Province".

My American friend Toria said she was able to vote.
In the City box, I wrote my city and state. In the Province box, I put USA.

The only requirements is using your real name and your real e-mail address. You'll need to respond to the automated Confirmation e-mail they'll send after you vote.

Since 1981, when Fox succumbed to cancer, more than $600 million has been raised in his name through the annual, international Terry Fox Run.

Victor Garber - A Hollywood stalwart born in London, Ont., Garber is a regular on both stage and screen. He has earned kudos on Broadway for turns in productions like Damn Yankees, Follies and Art, at the Emmy Awards for shows like Alias and the miniseries Life with Judy Garland, and for Oscar-celebrated films such as Argo, Milk and Titanic.

Hello!

I'm sure that this has been posted elsewhere already, but I wanted to celebrate with you all the fact that Victor is amongst "the latest inductees to Canada's Walk of Fame".

Very happy for Victor!

:clapping:
Thanks for the alert, Louise! ;hug;

I didn't see that news here in Windsor.

I was hoping that this year would be the optimal time to get the people at the Canadian Walk of Fame to recognize Victor, since the film Argo was so widely seen this year.

Mission Accomplished!

Victor is in great company, being recognized with an iconic Canadian Hero, Terry Fox.

Terry Fox
Having lost his right leg to cancer, Terry Fox became a cancer research activist, through his "Marathon of Hope" - the goal was to run from Canada's East Coast to its West Coast while Raising funds for Cancer Research. The run started with little publicity, which resulted in some drivers being angry with Terry holding up traffic with his hop-shuffle method of running on the side of the road.

The physical demands of running a marathon every day took its toll on Fox's body. Apart from the rest days in Montreal taken at the request of the Cancer Society, he refused to take a day off, even on his 22nd birthday. He frequently suffered shin splints and an inflamed knee. He developed cysts on his stump and experienced dizzy spells. At one point, he suffered a soreness in his ankle that would not go away. Although he feared he had developed a stress fracture, he ran for three more days before seeking medical attention, and was then relieved to learn it was tendonitis and could be treated with painkillers.

Tragically, Fox's run was stopped near Thunder Bay, Ontario when cancer was found in his lungs. After 143 days and 5,373 kilometres (3,339 mi), his run ended. He died about 9 months later. The government of Canada had flags lowered to half staff in tribute to him.
