How Cool Is This?! Alias' David Anders May Come to Heroes
By Kristin Veitch ... yesterday at 8:53 pm

Okay, Alias fans, how mind-blowingly fantastic would this be?!

Reliable inside sources connected to NBC tell me that David Anders, the ridiculously talented actor who played the ridiculously awesome Mr. Sark on Alias, is in final talks with Heroes to play a new character named Kane for the upcoming second season.

You heard me. Alias' Sark. On Heroes. Two of TV's best-ever shows colliding. Can you stand it?!

Now, apparently, the final word has not yet come down. So, I, for one, will be crossing my fingers and toes all weekend and praying to my Heroes good luck charm (the roulette ball from my infamous two-word stint) that we'll get David Anders in the Heroes mix next season, 'cause he would make the show all the more kick-ass in every way.

Who's with me?! Comment below!

‘Alias’ actor tapped to join cast of ‘Heroes’; plus, Miss Universe may be a hero too

Straight from “reliable inside sources connected to NBC” to you: casting news regarding an addition to the Heroes crew.

David Anders, the actor who played alliance-shifting Julian Snark on Alias, is rumored to be Heroes producers’ choice for a new character on the second season of the very popular show.

The new character will be named Kane. Currently, this seems to be the extent of the source’s intel. Information about upcoming seasons of TV shows is apparently about as hard to gain access to as CIA files or a high security casino vault.

Anders, who was a fan favourite on Alias, will be in familiar company on the set of his new project. Greg Grunberg, (Heroes’ Matt Parkman) had a five-season run on Alias, so Anders will have a lunch buddy for his first day on the set.

Also rumoured to join the Heroes cast is Miss Universe 2007 Riyo Mori, who details an audition she had with show producers for the role of Yaeko, a love interest for one of the main characters.

"I went to the casting audition and read a script in English and Japanese, and they said it was really good. I hope I can be on the show," she says.

Ex-'Alias' Baddie Joins 'Heroes'

David Anders among several additions to cast - June 20, 2007

NBC has considerably beefed up the cast of "Heroes," adding six actors -- notably former "Alias" co-star David Anders and Michael Mann regular Barry Shabaka Henley -- in recurring parts for next season.

Lyndsy Fonseca, Dianna Agron, Holt McCallany and Japanese singer-actress Eriko Tamura have also signed on to the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Heroes" had previously added Dania Ramirez as a regular and Nick D'Agosto in a recurring role.

It's Anders, though, who's likely to get the most scrutiny, both for his resume as the slippery Mr. Sark on "Alias" and the character he'll be playing: the legendary samurai Takezo Kensei, whose sword Hiro (Masi Oka) spent much of last season trying to obtain. The casting of Anders in the role suggests there's more to the character's back story than what's been revealed so far.

In addition to "Alias," Anders has guested on "CSI," "Deadwood" and "Grey's Anatomy."

Henley ("Miami Vice," "Collateral," "Close to Home") is set to play a New York City detective on the show, meaning he's likely to come into contact with the Petrelli family and the possibly-not-dead Sylar (Zachary Quinto).

Fonseca, Future Ted's daughter on "How I Met Your Mother," and Agron ("Veronica Mars"), will both play cheerleaders in Southern California, where Claire (Hayden Panettiere) has taken up residence. McCallany ("Three Kings," "CSI: Miami") will play an Irish gangster and Tamura a Japanese princess.

"Heroes" began shooting its second season this week -- earlier than most shows, since NBC wants to air its 24 episodes with minimal reruns.

That doesn't seem to agree with Kristen saying that David plays someone named Kane.

It would be bad to have a caucasian playing a Japanese person.
In The Conqueror, John Wayne played Genghis Khan in what one critic called "history's most improbable piece of casting unless Mickey Rooney were to play Jesus in 'King of Kings." :rotflmao:

Would David play one of the first caucasians in Japan, who then adopted a Japanese lifestyle?

I know ... but Kristen said David would be a 1000 year old character named Kane ... ;)

Whatever character he is taking, I will be watching ... because of Greg and David B)

If Kane is going to be the first European to visit Japan, I hope that the story tries to keep track of historical facts.

Although the Polo brothers blazed a trail of their own on their first journey to the East, they were not the first Europeans to visit the Mongols on their home ground. Before them Giovanni di Piano Carpini in 1245 and Guillaume de Rubrouck in 1253 had made the dangerously journey to Karakorum and returned safely; however the Polos traveled farther than Carpini and Rubrouck and reached China.
Chronology of European exploration of Asia - Wikipedia
1542

After a journey through Sumatra, Malaysia, Siam (Thailand), China, possibly Korea and Cochinchina (Vietnam), Fernão Mendes Pinto is one of the first Europeans to land in Japan.
It looks like Europeans were visiiting China on trading missions for nearly 300 years before they went to Japan.

I am very VERY excited about David Anders...So the last scene of season one, when Hiro goes back in time. My first thought was that he had come upon the Kensei. So I wonder will we get to see him first as Kensei (in the past) or in the present as Kane...I am assuming that is what they will be doing with his character.

Either way can't wait until September 24th!

I've been thinking about starting to watch Heroes for a while, and then I saw the title of this topic. I started to read, and didn't understand a thing  , but anyway, if David is going to be a series regular I thought I had to start watching S1 right now. So, here I am, 17 episode into Heroes, and I really like the show. I can't say I "love" it, but it's really good, especially the relationship between characters, which is much more interesting than there powers IMO.
Anyway, it's going to be interesting to see why they cast a white guy as a Japanese ninja samurai. I'm not so certain it will all be about make up and Hollywood magic. They can't have casted him solely to make all us Sark-Snark fans happy, could they?

I was on NBC's site about a week ago and saw the Fall Preview lineup video they had with Greg Grunberg hosting.
They showed glimpses of season two and when I saw David Anders' face, I was like "WTF ??? Sark ??" But I mean, I hope he will play an interesting character. Hey, so far, Heroes hasn't disappointed me that much-- by that I mean the finale ep in season one was ehhhh.. a little to me because I was expecting a huge brawl between Peter and Sylar and an eventual Sylar's death. But I guess that'd be a cop-out ??
At least they left in a cliffhanger ending by showing a little bit of season two, episode one.

Just less than a month and the show returns !

i just saw a promo for season 2 of heroes that had David Anders in it!! I totally squeeeeed. I was like Wiess and Sark back again tehhehe. Plus, David is just fun to look at :P

....... I was like Wiess and Sark back again tehhehe.......
Hypothetically, I could just imagine Parkman saying to himself if and when (remember, this is just my imagination. ;)) he sees Anders' character ~ "Man, this feels like deja vu !! I can't seem to avoid this guy !!" :D
