Sci-Fi Sci-Fi Robot Thread

I thought I would create my own robot thread rather than discuss them in my introduction thread.

If an Admin or Moderator could move the current robot discussion from there to here then we can carry it on?

I think the robot discussion begins from about the 3rd or 4th post onwards.

I wanted to also use this thread not just to post lists and discussions but I would like to also add profiles and data to compile a mini robot resource and even identify robot films or robots themselves. for those looking.
Also discussions on Androids, ctborgs, computers, G G I beings welcome to :)

I have a list of Robot/computer etc. acronyms I could also post in here if anyone is interested, and if I have missed some then anyone can submit more? I want to add them to my book aswell.

Wow, this is such a great sci-fi robot thread. I wouldn't think that it will be having this kind of science fiction. This is a great news and your lists are really interesting, keep us updated when you have new one for this post.

3 interesting robot stories in an ancient Doctor Who episode (in B/W) he was captured by one army of bots and asked to help them beat their enemies. Forget how he got out of their clutches after refusing to help, but his answer was simple - turn off the computers and make decisions the enemy's comps can't predict.
In Star Trek Geordie was captured by robots that had eliminated their creators and forced to rebuild damaged ones. They didn't have the intellect to reason that their power units were unique to each one of them, so would result in the eventual demise of the whole army.
Forget who wrote 'the machine stopped.' But very funny in the end. Mechanic needed apart for the machine and after speaking to everyone in the company and being told to fix the machine he explained that he couldn't This was the only machine that made the part he needed.
Some great ideas come out of asking a slightly different question

I used to love robots and the idea of artificial humans. Yet I could never figure out what it was. Please don'ty forget all the anime robots, like Boomers and Bioroids from Bubble gum crisis, Astroboy, and the giant Gundams!

Saw this pic on the net. Don't know if it's based on a specific / named robot. 'Art Deco' bots maybe (like those in Sky Captain)?

I liked Sky Captain; the story might have been a bit understated but I liked the visuals from it.

The robot pic you attached reminds me Iron Giant.
