Season 5 DVD & Complete Series DVD

I finally got around to watching some the 'Case Closed' features on the bonus disc and the Prophet Five commentaty on the Season 5 disc...

-As far as the footage of the last day of shooting..I was really surprised it was so short. It might have been 10-12 mins long. In seasons past they've had 'Making Of' features that were much longer than that. Considering it was the last day of filming EVER, I thought it would be longer. While it was nice to see some of the actors last scenes (Jennifer, Victor) I was really disappointed they didn't show Michael Vartan's or Ron Rifkin's last scenes. Instead they show Rachel's last scene/day. No disrespect to that actress but she was in about 17 episodes, Michael and Ron were probably in 80 or more - why not show them a little more. Overall, I wish Case Closed was more in-depth, it felt rushed to me.

- I have watched every commentary from every season of Alias so far and this is the first time I was frustrated while watching a commentary! Victor Garber, Ken Olin, and Jeff Pinkner did it and they shared almost little to nothing pertinent about this episode. I usually like Ken but some of his comments were just silly, they all kept commenting on the guest stars in this episode (my thought were I could care less about them) . It would have been nice to hear a little more background about this episode considering Vaughn was 'killed off', we find out Sydney was pregant, we learn about Prophet 5. Between the 3 of them, it didn't seem like they had much to say.

Sorry if I seem so negative about this set but I was so excited when I read the description of the features back in July/August now I get it after 4 months of anticipation and it's kind of a let down.

They did put less to the season 5 dvd set but i think these are the strongest ones ever. In my opinion the season 5 set has better extras than the 4th season set. But if we look to the past the best bonus feature will be the one in the 2nd season with "The telling" episode. And regarding the final scene they most problably put the best ones to the DVD: Jen, Rachel, Kevin, spydaddy showed great amount of emotion.

Does anyone know why they cut the finale commentary with Jennifer and JJ? I was really looking forward to it. Also, does anyone know where all of the easter eggs are? I've found 2, but I heard there were 4.

The series finale commentary was cut because Jen and JJ didn't have time to record it. Personally I think it's BS, they just didn't care, I mean the show is over. They have both moved onto other things.

I don't know what their reasons were, but I was definitely disappointed that neither JJ or Jennifer Garner made an appearance on the DVD, in terms of commentaries. And after all the dedication and devotion us fans have put into the show too. It's disheartening.

I think its so unfair that they have completly diregarded fans who aren't from the US. I have been a hardcore follower from day 1 but jsut because I'm not from America I don't get the proper Rambaldi Boxset... just the original boxs put in the cube??? If I'd hae known that I would have just bought 5

Well, you could get a multiregional DVD player and order the R1 box (and return the R2 one). Multireginal DVD players aren't actually that expensive.

Am I the only one OK with the set?

Sure we wanted 30 minutes of everyone's last scenes including Irina, Vaughn, Weiss, Sloane, etc. And we wanted the JJ and Jen commentary and we wanted JJ there for the finale and we wanted the full number of episodes and we wanted all the strings tied up in a pretty, PERFECT bow. But we're not going to get that. We never will. ABC screwed our show over. Don't blame JJ, don't blame Jen, don't blame Buena Vista. Blame ABC. The cast and crew and writers and creaters did the best they could with what ABC gave them.

What infuriates me is Alias was a much better show than Lost (yes, I'm a fan of it) and they didn't give it half the respect Lost gets...Because it didn't get the desired Number 1 spot in 18-49. Alias was nominated for how many awards and won? Even while lacking in viewers! Alias set the bar for the new dramas on TV now. Anyone who can't see that is blind! ABC ripped us and Alias off.

Now I'm really pissed off at ABC again and I'm ready to boycott. I thought I was over what they did to my beloved show but apparently I'm not.

yeah,ABC sucks and they did screw us and the show over but it was Buena Vista who is responsible for the DVD sets. They come up with the concept and they are the ones who produce them.
Season 1 and 2 dvd sets were great....but 3 sucked big time! It was sloppy and ugly and cheap!

The Complete set could have had so much more but oh well...its all about money!

IMO, ABC could have easily cancel the show after season 3 or even after season 2. We should be thankful that Alias lasted for 5 seasons. If ABC weren't so struggling at the time, Alias wouldn't even last more than a season or two. Look at Invasion, The Nine, and Six Degrees----which all have similar ratings to Alias but were canceled or will not even survive past a season at best. So I would blame the disappointment of the Rambaldi set and s5 dvds all on BVHE. The head officials probably limited the budget and resources for the dvd sets thinking who the hell cares...the show got canceled anyways------hence the skim bonus features.

And for anyone who have not purchase the Rambaldi DVD set yet, DON'T because it is not worth it. The individual season sets are way cooler than the Rambaldi Boxset. Rambaldi boxset does not include of any the episode summaries; all the epsiodes titles are just printed on the cd sleeves (kinda how the season 5 set is).

The only thing worth noting about the Rambaldi boxset is the bonus disc that features about an hour of all-new, never before seen bonus features--which is not all that great. The bonus features on this disc is pretty sub-par compared to what is found on the past 4 season sets. A good chunk of the extras on the Rambaldi bonus disc (s5 deleted scenes & final farewell) should have been on the s5 set. I feels like they didn't have as much extra content for the bonus disc so they just ripped some off the s5 set---hence why the bonus features for the s5 set is so thin in quantity. LAME!!!

The booklet, "Alias: Revealed" is a total piece of s***. It doesn't answer any real questions (Project S.A.B.47, Irina's endgame, Sphere of Life...). It mostly contains questions like "Did Nadia really die?", "Is Sloane and Sark good or bad?", and "Is that really Syd on Page 47?"........just a lot of the most obvious questions.

I already owned the previous four seasons and bought the Rambaldi boxset and now kinda regreted it. The Rambaldi cube is cool and all but the bonus booklet and disc are a HUGE dissapointment. I was willing to double up on the s1-4 dvds just to get the bonus disc and booklet and now I feel totally RIPPED OFF!!!! :( :cuss: :madfire: :angry2:  :<img src=:"

You are right about Alias being canceled after season 2 however...ABC didn't have "LOST" or "Desperate Whores",or even "Greys Anatomy"...so until these shows came along then did ABC really start treating Alias and its fans like felgercarb!
So now that LOST and Desperate Whores are sucking in the ratings,I am so pleased that they are being treated the same way alias was! Exspecially LOST!

I seriously have no idea what you are talking about!!!! The box set is awesome, and is totally worth buying. Of course there are things that could have been improved, but I'm so happy with it. We should be thankful for every second of Alias we got, and happy that BVHE even put this together at all. The design is incredible and the whole setup is simply amazing (I went into some serious shock when I got mine). If you read past comments and are turned off from buying the boxset, don't worry! I think it is awesome and totally worth buying, and if you are obsessed with Alias I'm sure you'll love this set!

You took the words right out of my mouth.

Hi

Im spanish so excuse me if make some mistake in my email.
Ok Im interesting in what really content the box, can you make a list with all the titles that apparence in the DVD, if they are commentaries of the actors or director, bloopers....
How much time is the bonus?

AND of corse Im very interesting if Michael Vartan apppear in the bonus, and how much..... and if he apparece alone or with Jennifer Garner.

I will be very grateful if you comment the bonus, like escenes eliminate

OK thank vey much that all that people taht can help me in this questions?

And one more question, this box is only sale on internet or will be in shops?

But that is unfair to UK and other European fans. Why should we have to actually pay for a DVD player aswell as the DVD set just because we want to get the proper set?

Hey guys. I think this is my first post!
I've ordered my limited edition box set and it should be arriving on the 19th of December. Despite some bad reviews im still really looking forward to getting it! I ordered it off amazon.com but im a bit worried because there were many reviews there about the discs coming scratched and damaged so much that whole episodes didnt play. If LostInCA is still around can you tell me if my discs come scratched will BVHE replace them since it is their fault if they didnt protect the dvds properly.
Thanks!
