Here are some "Lost" mentions in articles about the fall TV season that have come out in the last day or so:

The article says

"Lost" is the genre that dares not speak its name. Clearly a fantasy series, ABC has tried to spray it with Geek-Away by calling it an adventure with a twist.

And later goes on to say

"Lost" -- After watching this show, you'll spend your next flight looking around the cabin and wondering, "What if I had to live with these people on a desert island?"

With a cast of hundreds, creator J.J. Abrams ("Alias," "Felicity") has given himself an unending source of stories. Matthew Fox ("Party of Five") takes center stage as a doctor who survives a plane crash, only to find himself among a diverse array of folks, from fugitives to rock stars. If that isn't enough, there's a sort of "Island of Dr. Moreau" fantasy spin to it.

From "High-anxiety TV" at dfw.com:
ABC is banking heavily on the spinoff of David E. Kelley's The Practice, Boston Legal, and Mark Cuban's clone of The Apprentice, The Benefactor. But its best shows are less secure and more adventurous, such as Life as We Know It, the teen lust drama, and Lost, about 48 survivors of a plane crash stranded on an island with what you'd call unusual wildlife.

The Lost pilot is expensive (reportedly $10.5 million) and expansive, but not what you'd call bold in actual content. Masterminded by J.J. Abrams (Alias), the drama qualifies as a risky venture mainly because we're getting weary of the Same Old Stuff -- cop dramas and the latest incarnation of CSI.
