So is anybody watching Lost?

So is anybody watching Lost on ABC? Considering the fast fan base the show has gotten I'm almost hesitant to say that I haven't had a chance to watch a single episode yet!

Some of my family members who wouldn't normally watch a 'sci-fi' type of show keep telling me that I'd like, that it's my 'kind of show' but I never seem to be home lately at night during primetime.

So what I'm missing? Is it more hype than quality or does the show live up to it's attention? More importanly, should I make an effort to watch it?

When it started this summer I was I completely caught up in some projects and never watched but everybody keeps telling me I should. I'm thinking that maybe after the season ends they'll be sure release the season on DVD. I hate watching shows in the middle of the season without knowing the backstory to the characters.
