Yep, the Russians invaded this morning. Not sure what they were trying to spam to.... about a half-dozen accounts used to post a few hundred messages with videos but since it was all in Cyrillic I don't know what their intent was.
It was easy enough to clean up but I was surprised that it even got done because our spam prevention tools in place have been pretty good. I took the step today of also signing up for an Akismet spam key so hopefully in the future if they get through again the posts will at least be flagged for moderation.
I am pretty tempted to just block the entire "RU" range of IP addresses from the server. In the years of running forums (mostly Cool Sci-Fi and others) I don't recall actual real users from that region joining.
