Politics Social Democratism

The Social Democratic current came into being by a break within the Socialist movement in the early 20th century. One reformist group of Socialists rejected the idea of a Socialist revolution, and instead tried to achieve the Socialist ideals through Democratic means.

Social Democrats are in favor of a highly regulated Capitalist market economy, but with a strong and large government [Moderate Interdependence].

Moderate Socialism is the variation of Socialism that blends NonConformance and Interdependence in moderation.

People in this category will tend to have have balanced and moderate opinions about loosening the moral order (gay rights, ecology, drug legalization,...) and about expanding collective initiatives (social programs, industry regulation...).

Social Democracy is often considered the most commonly embraced political ideology in the world.

Edited: I'm gonna try to post a new article every week and we can discuss it here.

you are probably a social democrat if you agree with any one of the following parties:

Australian Labor Party
Nouveau parti démocratique (Canada)
Le Parti Socialiste (France)
Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands (Germany)
The Labour Party (UK)
Green Party of the United States

take the quiz to see if you are a social democrat.

left and right is a one-dimensional representation of the political spectrum while the graph gives a two-dimensional representation. but traditionally, the right would be in the bottom right and the left would be in the top left.

i love Jimmy Carter - i'm not too sure about his effectiveness as President, but he seems like a very good and generous person. wierd that i didn't match a party though...

I'm a big fan of Carter, too. He wasn't all that effective as a president, because Congress at the time was conservative, so they overruled him a lot... or something like that.

It is weird that you didn't match a party, because your scores are pretty similar to mine, and I matched with Green Party.

we need to be friends. i need to move a bit more towards social republicanism and a bit away from social democratism. why? because i want to be more middle of the road. or maybe being centre right may be a bit easier to be than centre left...i dont know.

My results-
You scored -3.5 on the Moral Order axis and -1.5 on the Moral Rules axis.

System: Liberalism
Variation: Moderate Liberalism
Ideologies: Capital Democratism
US Parties: Democratic Party
Presidents: Jimmy Carter (93.01%), John F Kennedy (93.01%)
2004 Election Candidates: John Kerry (96.88%), Ralph Nader (84.38%), George W. Bush (59.38%)

That suits me pretty well. I am a total liberal and well yeah. And I have always liked Carter. He would have been in the White House longer if like you said, there weren't so many conservatives. He is a great man and helps so many people. And he's such a great guy that my dad (a conservative) voted for him (the only time he has ever voted for the Democratic nod).

If my post makes no sense, it's because I woke up at 3 this morning (don't worry I have slept since then..somewhat).

Jimmy Carter was an unusually intelligent president. He, Clinton, and Kennedy were very scholarly so I think that led to their liberalism. Carter however just did not know how to manage a country. A lot of it wasn't his fault. Khomeini and OPEC screwed him over big time. Had he been able to avoid the Iran hostage situation and keep oil prices down I'm sure he would have won in 80'.

'Liberal'

1. Relating to or having social and political views that favour progress and reform.

2. Relating to or having policies or views advocating individual freedom.

3. Giving and generous in temperament or bahaviour.

4. Tolerant of other people.

From the Collins Concise Dictionary.

I can live with being all of those things. (y)

I love it when people accuse me of 'being a liberal'. I take it as a compliment.

in america, democrats are considered liberal only cuz american society is conservative. in actuality, democrats are more moderate on the world political spectrum while republicans are centre right. american politics actually has a very narrow spectrum in my opinion. is it coincidental that in this "democracy" there are only two influential political parties? in my opinion, both parties suck because they say that voting for a third party is throwing away a vote, because if another party came into power, the democrats and republicans would both lose power. it's a conspiracy!

Unsuprisingly I am a "moderate conservative" which i'll have to tell my politics teacher as she said i was "more right wing than gengis khan."

But I'm suprised it said George Bush because while agreeing overall, I'm for small government minimal interference except on defence.

Its weird

Agreed. While I am always with the democratic candidate, my personal philosophy has always been leaning more towards democratic socialism, as my test confirms. I like the idea of socialism.

It's weird. I was raised democratic, but a few years ago I realized I really wasn't. I was, in many ways, socialst. Now, I'm still too young to vote, but when I'm old enough I'll most likley vote deomocratic most of the time because I agree with many of thier veiws (especially on issues like stem cell reaserch and abortion--though I do wish the party would take a stronger pro-gay marrige stance). Plus, I hate most republican standpoints. But I do sometimes wish there were more options.
