omg. my local newspaper got a makeover. there's way more local news and way less national and international news.

this is dangerous because that means that there are things on the national and international level that the government doesn't want us to know about.

I don't know if that's really dangerous or the case.

My local paper is basically all local news, with little national and international coverage. That doesn't mean the government is hiding anything from us, it just means that small town newspapers want to focus more on what's going on in the area.

I read larger newspapers or visit news websites around the world to get my national and international coverage.

That makes no sense.

A. Local newspapers should cover local events and B. The gov't doesn't control the papers anyways.

my area has over a million residents so it's not a small town newspaper.

and the government DOES control the newspaper, at least the one i get. a few years ago, they uncovered this government operation in the inner city and they did a whole week's worth of articles on the front page. then one day, there was an article that said this was faulty info and that the writer had not had enough concrete and provable evidence. SD-6 much?

let's not get paranoid. the writer might really have been acting on faulty information.

then why the heck would the editor put his job on the line by printing faulty info?

because he didn't realize it was faulty...? just a guess. it happened to the editor of the New York Times, where a writer wrote many articles using false information.

that's true. it could be because i try to keep an open mind and be flexible. that means that my views can change. also, internet quizzes aren't exactly the most reliable ways of categorizing people's political views. political issues are complex and you can't always fit in the "agree" or "disagree" column. and you profess to be moderate while i am happy to admit that i am liberal on almost all issues.

also if you could answer my question in "the ONE" thread, i'd really appreciate it.
