Over the past 20+ years I have had a very vivid dream where I seem to see great details and have a sense of a over-all plot where I am the main character within this tale. I have considered trying to write this story down and build on it to make it into a novel. Let me give you a over-view of the basic tale.
In the beginning the main character awakens in a dark room on a table that is cold but somehow illuminated and is totally naked except on each arm there kind of bracer with many buttons and symbols. The bracers are made of some kind of soft plastic that allows one to slip them the lower arms and they seem to fit nicely and weigh almost next to nothing. They are white in color an have many different small buttons and lights that are lit up when worn.
Now the main character sits up and sits on the table with his legs over the one side and looks around the area. He figures out he most be in a dark room and then stands up and begins to walk around the room. There appears to be nothing else in the room with him except the table in the middle of the room. He thinks for a second and without knowing why touches a button on his right arm and light extends from the bracer like a flash light beam might. He then scans the room's walls and discovers a portal. He walks over to the doorway and a light in the shape of a triangle seems to glow red. He then seems to know to pass his left hand over the light and sees a glowing 3D panel appear in mid air with a couple of choices and writing on this panel that is virtual in nature. He looks at the writing on the floating still virtual panel and it states in a language he has never seen before that this is a recovery room. He also sees that the door is locked, but he has the option to unlock the door as well open the door. With his right hand he firsts unlocks the door by pressing the on-screen button for unlock and that button changes color from red to green. Then he presses the open button, and that too changes from red to green with the door opening and sliding into the wall. He then steps into a corridor, and the door closes behind him. There is no light in that corridor, except for the light coming off right arm. He scans both direction and see there are a number of portals along the walls in either direction, but also notices that there is a thick covering of dust on the floor. While looking at the floor, he notices that there appears to be foot prints of some type that came and went to the left.
So he walks down the corridor towards the left. He walks by a number of portals but it is clear that the footprints did not go into any of them. Now as he comes to each portal he sees the same red light pop on and a Virtual panel appears with a lock/unlock button, and open button, followed by a line or two of text describing what each rooms is for. He continues on to follow the footprints in the dust that seem to lead to a slightly different portal, looking slightly larger and more substantial. Now the Traveler as I will call the main character, once again finds one of the virtual panels. Now this panel besides having the other buttons like before also has a button for Security Over-ride. The Traveler finds that when he tries to open this door it asks for Security Clearance level, which he touches the button and it show a level V clearance. now once he does that he seems to be able to open the door. The text for this panel says Command Tower 7, dome walkway access.
As the Traveler steps through the portal he finds himself standing on a elevated walkway that runs along a dome side that is about 200 feet in the air. He walks over to the edge of the walkway and holds onto the railing and over looks a vast forested dome that has to be at least 5 miles across. In the center of this dome there are some high buildings that poke above the trees. He looks around the dome and notes that there are a total of 8 towers, all just like the one he just stepped out of. He can see that in the center of the dome on the ceiling there is a glowing mass that gives light to the dome.
The Traveler looks around for a while and looks at the thick forest below him, and using some of the buttons on his two bracers he brings up a Virtual display off his left arm and determines that the ground floor of the dome is about 200 feet below, and the trees are about 160 to 180 feet tall. He hears animal noises and even sees some fling creatures and other animals within the trees. The air seems pleasant and about 70 degrees in temperature. He looks down at himself and once again realizes that he is naked except for these two braces, and decides to re-enter the Command Tower and explore.
So this is the beginning of the many tales that the Traveler has. The key things is who is he? Where is he? Whom brought him there and why? How come they gave him these two bracers and what is his purpose?
For me many of my very vivid dreams are the adventures of discovering the answers to many of these questions and many more questions that will come along. Call it Plots within Plots within Plots?
