Couldn't he come back as a walker? Technically, he was just ate on a bit. I don't recall anyone bashing him in the brains, or shooting him in the head once they walked back through the hallway. Or maybe it's just me hoping he returns to eat Carl.
His body looked all mangled up. So if he is coming back, it ain't gonna be pretty. I doubt he'd be a threat either being that torn up since they were eating him for a while.
