Teaching help

Hey, I'm teaching a high school English class in Science Fiction and Fantasy. I was planning on reading four or five novels and some short stories but I've had to completely revamp my curriculum due to a group of very weak or reluctant readers. I'm looking for ideas for more hands-on science fiction lessons, activities and projects, where I could still sneak in some reading and writing here and there. Our charter school does not have ample resources---the laptops we share among all our classes always seem to be having IT problems and I'm not really a gamer, tech geek or artistic type. More of the literary type. But I know there are endless possibilities for getting teens excited about Sci/Fi given the pace of changes in our world, the awe of science, movies, etc. Looking for ideas or suggestions!

Thanks!
