Cancer. I hate it. Today I found out that my dad was diagnosed with it. I'm scared. I'm not afraid that my dad is going to die because the doctors are optimistic that they can get rid of it. No, I am afraid because what if I get it when i'm older? This kind of thing scares me because I think I have a pretty good chance of getting it. My grandma had it, My grandpa's sister did, and now my dad. Thats my mom and my dad's side of the family meaning I have a very good chance of getting it. My grandma survived but my grandpa's sister did not. This is one of the many things that scares me about the future. I don't live with my dad and I only see him a few times a month if that, but it's still a shock. I'm not looking for pity i just wanted someone to listen. Respond if you have similar feelings or just to state your opinion.

I'm so sorry, but I know a few people who have had acncer, fortunately not in our family and they've all pulled through it, so don't pressume the worse!
It doesn't mean your going to get it, I'm not very good at this as you can tell, but my prayers are with you and your family!

    dito!!!

Don't think always about this problem. I know it's easy said but if you always think:
    I want no cancer
    I want no cancer
    I want no cancer
then you 'll be afraid of every pain you might have that that could be an indication for cancer...that reduces " the fun of life" and if you can't be funny, happy then you might get ill!
If you're doing regular check-ups ( to give you the safty that you don't have cancer at the moment) and think positive then you'll not get it! The mind is strong!
I know the most important thing is positive thinking- a friend of mine has cancer and the doctors said that he won't be alive right now..but he is still alive 'cause he want to!!!!
