I'm putting this Great Debates because it seems to be causing a war on the internet over what the answer is

Firstly, the riddle:-

"It’s 3 a.m., the doorbell rings and you wake up. Unexpected visitors! It’s your parents and they are here for breakfast. You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese. What is the first thing you open?"

There are huge arguments over what the answer is. (The two options are in the spoiler below, just in case you don't know the answer yourself )

Simple, the door.


Tell me this, how many people wake up (as the riddle says) and keep their eyes closed? It's an involuntary action. If that is the case, first you have to open your lungs (involuntary action) to breathe in order to be able to open your eyes, in order to open the door.

In other words, its the door.
