The Grey (2011) - IMDb

In Alaska, a team of oil workers board a flight home; however, they cross a storm and the airplane crashes. Only seven workers survive in the wilderness and John Ottway, who is a huntsman that kills wolves to protect the workers, assumes leadership of the group. Shortly after they learn that they are surrounded by a pack of wolves and Ottway advises that they should seek protection in the woods. But while they walk through the heavy snow, they are chased and attacked by the carnivorous mammals.

Well, I finally got around to watching this movie and I must proclaim that Liam Neeson movies are the crux of the biscuit for best movie experience. This movie set the standard for animal survival tales that continues with the likes of The Revenant (2015) - IMDb. The bitter cold of the Alaskan wilderness, together with the fight for survival set standards for us to have movies like Everest (2015) - IMDb. This film, while not top of current cinematic standards, is a fine example of what makes survival movies great. It is powerful and moving. I highly recommend giving this one a screening. Note that the 'R' rating is there because of graphic animal attack scenes and can be disturbing for younger viewers. This film does NOT have a happy ending.
