I was just curious if anyone has heard of the MS-13 or Mara Salvatrucha gang.

They've been called the most dangerous gang in America and are seriously on the rise.

I've heard a lot about it because there are a ton of them located in North Carolina...especially Charlotte and have been responsible for homicides, kidnappings, and rapes...one of which just occurred yesterday and has resulted in a state wide manhunt.

Here is some information on the gang:

-They are located in 33 states. Some that have been strongly affected by violence include California, Virginia, Florida, and North Carolina.

-It began with El Salvadorans who fled their country in the early 1980s because of civil war and settled mostly in southern California.

-Federal Officials estimate over 10,000 members live in the United States, the vast majority of them being illegal immigrants.

-The group is involved in all sorts of violence and smuggling. Including: rape, kidnapping, homicide, human smuggling, drug trafficking, arms smuggling, and intergang violence.

hmmm I have never heard of this gang. My cousins are from El Salvador though and they say it is pretty scary in some parts of that country.

Newsweek did a big thing about them back in March, and lately I've heard more about them in the news...some of that is because they are quite prevelant in North Carolina.

That sad thing is if we had stricter immigration laws, they might not be over here, seeing as the vast majority are in this country illegally.

...ummm...we we don't have strict immigration laws at all. Thus the reason we have 11 million undocumented illegal immigrants in this country.

It's to the point of almost having an open border.

Off topic:
The British where occupying Northern Ireland and treating the Catholic community as second class citizens. Yes terrorism is wrong but on the other hand, we, the British had a big hand in creating the situation for the IRA to exsist. Look at Bloody Sunday!, British soldiers shot at and killed innocent civilians on a peace march! Oh and let usnot forget internment. Gerry Adams is not a terrorist, he has never been convicted of a terrorist offense.

On a more serious note, this gang is really scary. They are said to be responsible for thousands of murders, rapes, and maimings in this country alone. They opened fire at a soccer game for no reason and killed a 12 year old. They're terrible. They don't just target other gang members, just whoever they can really.
