My name is Rachel Butcher.

I am applying fpr a walk-in as an agent of the CIA.

I used to work for SD-6. That was before they were destroyed and I found out who I was really working for.

I want to tell you my story.

~
I was a grad student at UCLA. The only person in my life was my father. My mother had divorced him and was living in New York.

One day, I was sitting on a bench on campus. A woman approached me and handed me a business card that said "Credit Dauphine" on the front. It had an address and a phone number.

"What is this about?"

She told me that she worked with US Intelligence, and they wanted me to come work for them.

A week later, I sat at a desk in the Credit Dauphine building. Someone handed me a stack of non-disclosure agreements that I then signed. Following that, I began doing desk work at Credit Dauphine. They told me that this was the 'evaluation phase', that they would be determining when I was ready to become a real officer of the CIA. They also told me that the evaluation phase usually took about a year or so, maybe longer.

About three months after I started my evaluation, they told me that I was ready for the 'transition' or agent training. It was during the transition that they told me their official name: SD-6. They told me that SD-6 was a black-ops division of the CIA; meaning a division that is funded by the CIA's black budget. Operations that are highly classified, even hidden from Congressional oversight. I believed them. I would be a while before I realized just how wrong I was to do that.

~~
I sat in the park, in the same place I sat when that woman, Danielle Rodriguez, approached me about SD-6. I sat there, and my beeper rang. I called the usual number.

"Hello?"

"Rachel, we need you to come in." Danielle's familiar voice said through my phone.

"Sure". I headed for my car, excited that I might be going on a mission. I would be going to serve my country.

~
Walking up the street, I smiled as I strode past the logo sign for the building. In order to get to SD-6 Headquarters, I had to take the 'executive' elevator to sublevel 6. I then stood in the scanning room and let the biometric scanner authorize me for clearance into HQ.

After entering the conference room called Op-Tech, Danielle explained to me my assignment. She pressed a button on a remote, and a picture of a 20 story tower next to a plaza.

"Gentel Headquarters, in Paris. It seems that Gentel has drawn up specs for a chemical weapon they plan on releasing two days from today. By then, the weapon will be complete."

"Why? What's happening then?"

"Gentel poses as a French software company. They are scheduled to reveal their new plan for a 'nanotechnology' software program. It's a strategy; a 'cover' time to release the weapon while the whole world is distracted. Your mission is to gain entry to the server room, download the specs. And while you're at it, copy the program, swipe the hard drive clean, and bring it all back to us. You'll go in posing as a wealthy software buyer looking for a new security system for your clients' computers. You leave tonight."

"Alright." I said.

I drove out of the SD-6 parking garage and saw her walk out the door of a donut shop across the street.

I decided to give a little hint to anyone who is wondering how any of this fits into the whole 'cave' plot line.

Gentel Software Headquarters
Paris

Rachel opened the front door to the office building, dressed in work mode, no-nonsense clothes. She approached the front desk.

“My name is Melissa Season.” She said in a perfect French accent. “I’m a corporate buyer with Sencol industries. I’m here for the nano program presentation.”

“You’re early, Ms. Season.” Said the desk clerk. “Right this way.”

Rachel followed the woman through a back door and down a hallway. As soon as the door was closed, she knocked her out and proceded down the hallway cautiously, stopping at a door marked A.

***Flashback: SD-6 Conference Room***

Danielle stood at the front of the room, briefing Rachel.

“We’re sending you in before the presentation, so that you’ll have enough time to swipe the program before it’s presented, obviously. Marshall?”

SD-6’s Op-Tech specialist Marshall Flinkman walked in to the room. “Yes, ma’am. Well, in order to shut down security what we have here is what looks like a normal business card, right? Wrong. It will allow you to splice into the wires in security room A without being detected and will make the network think that you simply are a security guard working there. It sends out that sort of signal. Once you do that, security will be shut down for four minutes.”

“What about when I need to download the specs for the chem. weapon and copy the nano program? What will I use to do that?”

“That’s a little bit more simple. I’ve got a remote modem for you, it will copy the info off the hard drive and download it.”

“How long should it take?”

“According to the Intel we acquired on Gentel HQ’s computers, it should take just under two minutes. That should give you enough time to get out of there once you’re done.”

***

Rachel picked the lock on the door, and immediately took out her ‘business card’. She placed it in between two of the wires and security shut down. She began the timer on her watch, having set it for 4 minutes. She then hacked into the computer monitor and found the central hard drive. She attached the modem to the top of the terminal and began downloading. About two minutes later, it was done. She gathered all her stuff together and looked at her watch. One minute and forty-seven seconds left until security was restored.

Better hurry.

She got up to open the door but it was already open. A French guard stood in the doorway, looking at her menacingly.

“Qui êtes-vous ? Que faites-vous ici ? Cette pièce est pour des agents de sécurité seulement.” (Who are you? What are you doing here? This room is for security agents only.)

Rachel looked down and spotted the guard’s machine gun. She took a deep breath. “Mon nom est Marianna. Je suis nouveau.” She began, “Je suis un spécialiste en technologie, et quand la sécurité est descendue ils m'ont envoyé avalent ici.” (My name is Marianna. I'm new. I am a tech specialist, and when security went down they sent me down here.)

The guard suddenly smiled and replied, “Mes excuses, ma'am. Mais je dois vous demander de me prendre et vos beaux cheveux bruns et de partir maintenant.” (My apologies, ma’am. But I must ask you to take yourself and your beautiful brown hair and leave now.)

No problem.

Smiling, Rachel thought of giving the guard a good kick for his comment on her wig, but she decided it was best to just go right past him. She got what she came for. Her duties for her country were done for the day. She proceeded down the restricted hallway and looked at her watch again—00:10. She ran for the door and as soon as it she reentered the lobby, security was restored.

She walked briskly through the lobby where another desk clerk had taken over.

“Ms. Season? Aren’t you here for the presentation? It will be starting a little later. I have you on the logs…”

Rachel turned around.

“I’m sorry, but I have to leave. I’m not feeling well.”

With that, she turned back around and headed right out the front door. When she got in her rental car, she took out her cell phone and dialed the SD-6 number.

“Home Plate, this is Blondebird. I’ve received the data. I’m heading home.”

***SD-6 Conference Room***

“Good work, Blondebird. We’ll see you at home.”

Danielle turned off her phone and pocketed it as Arvin Sloane walked in.

“Have we retrieved the nanotechnology program?” he asked.

“Yes, sir. Once our agent returns with it, I’ll give it to you.”

“Good. We should be able to track down the Rambaldi device as soon as we get the program.”

As he turned to leave, he turned back around and held up his finger.

“Who was the agent, by the way?”

Danielle told Sloane Rachel’s name.

“Hmm.” He said. “Interesting.”

Chapter 3

“Alain. It’s Arvin. Yes, we acquired the program effectively. We should be receiving data on the location of the Rambaldi artifact soon enough.”

Arvin Sloane sat at his desk in his office at SD-6, on the phone with Alain Christophe, the founder of the Alliance of Twelve. His mind wandered to Rachel. They had to place the data on the chemical weapon there as bait, as a ‘cover’. What the objective really was was the program. It wasn’t some nanotechnology program, it was a locating program to find a Rambaldi artirfact. But Rachel’s handler, Danielle, had to make her believe otherwise. It was all business. When he saw Rachel walk to his office doors, and knock, his other hand reached hurriedly for the receiver.

“Yes, I will get back to you. Thank you. Merci.”

He looked up, smiled and nodded, and pressed the button that unlocked his doors. Rachel walked in and placed the modem on his desk.

“I got everything.” She said.

“Good.” He responded. “Why don’t you go home and get some rest? We’ll call you in for a briefing as soon as we confirm everything we can about the chemical weapon.”

Rachel twitched. Every time her boss suggested she ‘go home and get some rest’ it made her feel useless. It had been three months since she became a full agent. Three months since her evaluation phase had ended. That meant it had been six months since she started in this whole mess. But she was just glad to be fighting for her country. For some reason, she began thinking about another agent who had started her evaluation the same time she had. Her name was Sydney. Sydney Bristow. When Rachel had moved up, Sydney was still there. She wondered if Sydney had been issued full agent yet.

Authors Note: I thought most of you would have noticed this, but it seems Rachel was moved up three months before Sydney! Some competition?

“Well, ok. But call me as soon as you get anything.”

“Will do.”

With that, Rachel turned around and made for the door.

“Rachel? Wait a minute. I forgot to mention, Danielle resigned. Family issues, not to talk about now. But, just so you know, I’ll be assigning you your missions from now on.”

This shocked her. Danielle resigned? But how? So soon.

“Um…ok.” Was all she could say. She left the room. After getting her stuff from her desk, she took the elevator up to the parking garage level, and drove home.

Rachel drove into her driveway, and got out of her car. Walking up the steps, she looked up to find her sister standing there.

“Rachel—“

“What are you doing here?”

“I came here to talk.”

“We have nothing to discuss.”

“I have no place to go, Rachel!”

“Let me guess, you want money? Figures.”

“Not a lot. Just enough to get me through a hotel for tonight. I’ve signed up for a job as a clerk at a place downtown. Please help me.”

Rachel took out her wallet and handed her sister ten twenty dollar bills.

“Thanks.”

“Would you get out of here?”

Rachel watched her sister hail a cab and went inside.

~~

Jack Bristow stormed into Sloane’s office.

“I suppose you came in here to discuss Danielle Rodriguez?” Sloane asked. “She was revealed as a double agent and needed to be eliminated.”

“No. As much as that is big news around the office,” Jack began sarcastically, “I came in here to ask you how you could dare recruit my daughter into this life without consulting me.”

“I knew you would refuse.”

“There are plenty of good reasons. Not only have you sold her the lie that we are a covert branch of the CIA, she has to live with this lie while I stand around acting like everything’s just fine!”

“Jack, you already have lied to her by keeping your life a secret.”

“Yes, well know she thinks something that is not true, and that I know is not true.”

Sloane looked at Jack mysteriously. “Are you alright?”

“Do I look alright?”

“Jack, I need to make a call. Could you step out?”

Jack stepped out.

Sloane dialed a number on his phone and waited.

“Hello? Sydney? Yes, this is Arvin Sloane. Yes, you have been moved up to full agent. And in only six months. You are a remarkable young lady. I’ve called you for a mission.”

Sloane smiled. With this exceptional and excellent agent, he’d be closer to Rambaldi’s Gathering than ever before.

OK THIS IS REALLY WEIRD I HAD POSTED CHAPTERS 4 AND 5 BUT NOW THEY ARE GONE SO I WILL POST THEM AGAIN...(REALLY WEIRD AND FUSTRATING...)

crys...guess ya do LOL. j/k. Anyway, here is the next chapter! You don't exactly find out what rachel's sister's whole story is yet (now u know i wldnt give all that away so soon in the story lol), but I can promise you that it gets more mysterious and will probably leave you wondering (for some of you who are dying because of cliffhanger storietellers like me, that might not be such good news--sorry!).

Note: This chapter, just like 1 2 and 3, take place in the very beginning at SD-6, long before Syd became a double agent or found out about her father. I will make a note when these 'past chapters' end and ones that take place now in Alias start.

Please read and review!

Chapter 4

Arvin Sloane pressed a button on a remote in his hand, and a picturesque tower appeared in the computer monitors in the SD-6 Conference Room. Sydney sat in one of the chairs at the long rectangular table.

"This is a festival tower used for cultural, neighborhood events, and other things of that sort in Beijing. This building is also a cover station for K-Directorate. They use this building for storing developing projects, data they've aqcuired, et cetra."

"And they've stored something there we need?"

"Quite possibly. Based on Intel we've just recieved from a deep cover agent placed inside the Directorate, Agent Espinosa dead dropped some kind of antique mapping machine at the tower."

"Antique mapping machine? I don't think I understand."

"What we think, or hope is that it leads us to some big interworking of K-Directorate."

"What's my mission?"

Sloane grinned and handed Sydney a black folder.

"The exact coordinates of the tower are in there. Along with specs of the storage tower, and other information. Your assignment is to break in, locate the device, and bring it back."

"When do I leave?"

"Tonight. Okay, Marshall. What do you have for us?"

Marshall got up and took out a zip-up bag. "Ok, what I have for Syd here is, besides your standard combination lock scrambler to get into the building, is a 'byte size'..." he chuckles and blushes as he unzips the bag and takes out what resembles a computer mouse. "...wire and metal detector. Assuming we're right about what this machine is, it will help you locate it. It's also got an infared scanner and a see-through scanner which will let you detect anything that the detector can pick up through all the floors in the building from one position."

~~

On the drive home, Sydney called Francie.

"Hey, Syd. What's up?"

"Um, Fran, I have another trip tonight."

"Where are you going this time?"

"New York City." she answered quickly.

"The big apple, huh?"

"Yup."

"Well, see you at home."

"Alright." Sydney said, pocketing her phone.

~~

Rachel sat on her couch at home, sipping wine and reading an old book when her phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Rachel, it's me. Now sis, don't hang up on me."

"Why shouldn't I? After the way you've acted towards me our entire lives--"

"We were little kids, rache."

"Actually, I remember once when we were 16. You tried to run me over with Uncle Monty's truck."

"I just called to tell you one thing."

"What's that?"

"I earned enough money at my job to take a plane to New York City. I'll see you." With that, she hung up.

A plane? Money? My sister? That was too quick for me to comprehend.

~~

Beijing

Sydney approached the tower, walking at a stealthily pace. She picked the lock of the front door in a matter of seconds and came upon a short hallway and a second door with an electronic keypad next to it. She took out the scrambler and in a minute was inside the main door.

She turned on her comm unit in her ear, connecting herself to the SD-6 office back in L.A. on the other side of the world, where Marshall was standing by.

Author's Note: Did I spell comm unit right? LOL. No, seriously. Did I?

"Okay, Marshall. I'm in. Turning on the detector."

"I read you, Syd."

She held up the detector, moved it across the entire room, but nothing came up.

"I'm not getting anything, Marshall."

"Try the see-through."

She held up the detector, enabling it to scan through all the floors.

"Still nothing."

"Okay, um...wait, put it on infared."

She did. A red dot popped up on the fourth floor.

"Got it. Fourth floor, seventh room. I'm on my way up." She ran for the stairwell door.

She got to the fourth floor, broke into the seventh room, and approached what the detector told her was the device.

"It's in a weird shape. It's got a key pad. Wait, more than one--"

She was clipped on the back of the head and fell unconscious.

Her assailant grinned.

Chapter 5

PLEASE READ AND REVIEW!

Sydney awoke to find herself slumped in a corner. She heard water dripping.

It's raining. She thought.

Then she realized the water was dripping from a pipe. Her hands were cuffed to the pipe, and so were her ankles. They were cold. In fact, the only part of her body she could really move was he head. She looked up. A woman who looked about Sydney's age stood looking down at her.

"How did you know I was here? Who are you?"

"I was watching you from a concealed balcony. I tried to stop you from finding the device, but you're a tricky one, you are. As far as who I am, well, that will come later."

~~

Sloane called Rachel in after hearing from Marshall. For some reason, if Sydney was hurt, he wanted Rachel to be the one to go in and save her. She arrived in the conference room a little distraught.

"What's going on? Did we find out something on the chemical weapon?"

"No." Sloane replied. "The specs were wiped clean from the hard drive. I've called you in because one of our agents has gone missing."

"Missing? Who?"

"Sydney Bristow."

Rachel swallowed hard. "What happened?"

"We don't know; that's precisely the point. She was sent to Beijing to retrieve a device and her comm has been down since she reported finding it. We assume she's been captured."

"I'll go in."

For the next fifteen minutes, Sloane laid out all the information Rachel needed.

"One last note." Sloane said.

"What?"

"From what we can tell so far, it was a K-Directorate agent who stopped Sydney. I wanted to let you know..."

Rachel leaned foward expectantly.

"Tread carefully."

She sat back in her chair.

"Oh. Ok."

After she left, Sloane went to his office, called Jack and told him to come in. He then told him about Sydney's situation.

"Jack, I just wanted to tell you. I know you can't do anything about it..."

That made Jack twitch, and also want to sock Sloane right in the face and make him bleed.

Instead, he said "It's ok."

Even though it wasn't.

It never was.

~~

The woman leaned foward. Sydney noticed she had a couple of tools in her hand. A gun, and a long piece of rope.

She held the gun to Sydney's head.

"What the hell do you want to know?"

"Me and my agency have many enemies. You could be anyone."

"So?"

"So, I want to know who you are, dumbass. Who sent you here?"

"Go to hell."

"You first." Just as she was about to tie the rope around Sydney's neck and tie it to the pipe, the door to the underground room they were in slammed open and Rachel stormed in, brandishing a knife. She stopped in her tracks and nearly fell over.

Oh. My. God.

Author's Note: On the way, her vehicle was damaged and she also lost her gun, that's why she only has a knife.

Syd's torturer spun around to face Rachel, threatening her with the gun. She grinned.

"Hey, sis." She said. "I told you I'd see you."

Oh...okay yeah I read these chapters already! I remember reviewing them...

Chapter 6-Free Again

PLEASE READ AND REVIEW!

Note: for some reason, not all of the chapter was posted. heres the whole thing:

Sydney's vision began to blur. She knew this girl from somewhere.

"Well, you've saved me the fun of torturing this agent to find out who she's from. She must be SD-6. As you've come to save her, and you're SD-6."

"You knew. You knew what I did for a living all along."

"Of course I did. All those times I went to your home and called you asking for money. You don't actually think I was broke, do you? I planted bugs and other equipment. A few times I even had to let you give me some cash. You know, to make it seem legit. Wasn't so hard." She smirked.

Rachel's thoughts travelled to her last phone call with her sister, and the mission briefing with Sloane.

"You're K-Directorate. And you wouldn't be telling me all this if you expected me to live."

"Correct and correct again. Sydney, tell Rachel what she's won."

"How did know her name?"

"Like I said, bugs. I planted one on the clothes you wore to your first day at training. It was a visual bug as well."

Now Sydney remembered. This girl was from training. Her name was Rachel something. But now they needed to act quick if they wanted to survive and get out of here.

She caught Rachel's eye and blinked out a message in morse code as best as she could:

The knife. Use the knife.

Rachel got the message and threw the knife at her sister's thigh. It stabbed her deep and caught her by surprise, making her fall to her knees. Rachel took the split-second opportunity to kick the gun out of her hand, grab it and shoot her sister in the shoulder. She then slammed her against the wall and walked over to Sydney, still having the gun trained on her sister.

She moved the gun away from her sister just to shoot the locks off of Sydney's cuffs.

She was free.

Again.

"Thanks."

"No problem."

Using other tools she had, she pryed the loose pipe from the wall, although causing much pain in her arms. She rolled the pipe onto her sister's ankles and pointed the gun at her.

"You wanna play?" Rachel asked. "Let's play."

Rachel's sister screamed from the pain in all three parts of her body. It was spreading. She was weakening.

Rachel squeezed on the trigger.....
