That was great ... aww poor Vaughn bored out of his mind ... love the he has pregenancy plmplets in his desk drawer hehe ... aww he asked Jack for primiosn hehe and he said yes ... where is Jack ??? aww hes crying ... thanks for the PM ... more soon please

Loved Vaughn's research project, and him asking Jack's permission to marry Syd. I am a little confused as to why Jack would go to such extremes to just , apparently, look at pictures of a young Sydney. Perhaps he has more on his mind than that. Hopefully we will know more next chapter. Oh yes, just how pregnant is Syd now? Sorry, too clinical a mind when it comes to babies.
Thanks for the PM

So glad to see you finally updated.
Loved Vaughn into the whole pregnancy and
wanting to take Lamaze classes.
Also loved Jack getting emotional over losing Sydney.
So sweet!!!

Since you all have been so nice to me I decided to sit down and write another update. Here it is - hope you all enjoy.

--------------------------------

For the past week Vaughn had been very anxious. Sydney decided that it had to have something to do with the baby and the fact that in two months they would be parents. She herself was having a hard time really seeing the big picture. She knew it in her head she had nothing to gauge it by.

It was a late Saturday afternoon and she had just finished a languid soak in her bathtub. She loved the master bathroom in their house. The windows were letting in the soft pink glow from the sky and Sydney didn’t think life could get much better than it was.

She knew that down stairs in the room next to the kitchen Michael Vaughn was sitting at his desk typing up a report trying to clear room in his schedule Monday afternoon to go with her to the doctor’s office like he had through out her pregnancy. In a few more minutes, probably when he heard her walking around in their bedroom, he would begin walking around the house closing the windows as he made his way up to her. He was worried and cautious of anything that could jeopardize her or the baby.

She smiled at herself in the mirror as she toweled her hair and pulled it up into a soft bun with a few pins. She applied a dab of tinted moisturizer, a slick of pink hued gloss, and a quick swipe of mascara. She surveyed the affect and thought that it would work, as far as she knew.

That morning when the sun began to stream in through the white blind in their room and find its way up their cream colored blanket Vaughn had rolled over and kissed her cheek. Sydney had been half awake already because the baby had decided thirty or so minutes before to begin dance practice.

Sydney had opened her eyes to Michael’s loving green ones and couldn’t help but both blush and smile under his loving gaze.

After enjoying a few minutes of this together solitude he had picked himself up on to one side and looked down at her and asked her out on a date. She of course had accepted. All he would tell her was that it would be casual but nice.

Sydney had decided at breakfast to not destroy his plans by peppering him with questions all day long, although this took considerable control on her part.

Satisfied with what she would call a casual but chic pregnant look she walked into their room, and as predicted before she had reached her dresser she heard Vaughn moving around the office and out into the living room.

Sydney pulled out her white cotton halter dress with rose pattern and slipped it over her shoulders. She was about to reach around to tie the top when she felt Vaughn’s fingers close over hers. She smiled and leaned back at his touch, soft, but strong – Vaughn to a tee.

“Thank you.” She replied turning around and standing on her toes to kiss his nose in silly appreciation of his care.

“No problem, my cheri.” Vaughn replied with a mock bow. He walked over to his closet as Sydney sat down on the side of the bed to tie the ribbons of her pink sandals. Vaughn had one tan slacks and a casual but nice shirt and pulled out a matching suit jacket out of the closet.

Sydney stood up and started to head for the door when she saw Vaughn looking at her from a mirror near the door.

Without having to ask, or being told she turned around and reached into her closet and pulled out a blush colored knit shall and pulled it around her shoulders.

Vaughn smiled, how well she knew him, and how faithfully she worked to ease his mind.

They walked down the stairs side by side and Sydney walked into their living room waiting for Vaughn to meet her. He had walked the other way into the kitchen.

Just before Sydney was about to go and look for him he appeared at the door way with a white Calla Lily and baby’s breathe corsage on a soft bed of white lace ribbons.

He blushed when he heard her giggle but continued his steady stride to her side.

“Miss Bristow.” He said as he bowed in front of her.

“Mr. Vaughn I’m afraid that I didn’t know our occasion was so formal and I did not bring you anything to match.” She said with a sly smile.

“That is truly okay Miss Bristow. I could never do flowers the justice you do.” He said with a laugh at his own corny line as he slipped the flowers and lace onto her wrist before he kissed her hand.

‘This is what life is meant to be like.’ Sydney thought to herself. ‘It should be full of happier moments, ones filled with love and laughter. This is what I want to teach and share with my, our child.’

“May I escort you to the car?” Vaughn asked offering her his elbow.

“Yes, thank you kind sir.” Sydney answered taking his elbow as the exited the house.

------------------------------------------

Dinner had consisted of Sydney’s latest craving, hot dogs, funnel cake, and ice cream at the pier. She and Vaughn had walked slowly and nonchalantly along the pier watching people, the ocean, and stopping occasionally on the benches to relax as they watched the stars try and come out and meet them in the California sky.

Vaughn had started to steer them down to the beach and Sydney had stopped him to take off her sandals. Vaughn had reached down and undone the laces and removed each shoe taking care to make sure Sydney kept her balance, and then removed him loafers.

Sydney scrunched her toes into the cool sand and smiled at Vaughn. She grabbed his hand and pulled him toward her kissing him soundly, a kiss full of emotions – happiness, contentment, friendship, love.

“Have I told you today that I love you?” She asked pulling back to look up into his face.

Vaughn was still leaning down and inches of soft breeze were the only things separating him and Sydney.

“Yes you did, right after I found the salt packet for you to put on your strawberry ice cream.” Vaughn laughed at the strange request yet again.

“Well you heard the doctor, the only reason we pregnant women crave ice cream and pickles is that our body wants the calcium from the ice cream and iodine from the salt in the pickles.” She said giving him an “I’m so innocent and cute” look he had come to know very well over the past few years. “So why eat the pickle when I can just sprinkle salt on it?” She asked reasonably.

“Well then why don’t you just put some salt in a glass of milk?”

“Do you really need me to tell you that ice cream is far more fun than a glass of milk?”

“No, you don’t.” Vaughn said leaning in again and securing her lips with his own.

“Good, I was worried there for a minute. I thought I was going to have to call in the troops to help me.” She laughed as they began to walk again.

“And who would that be?” He asked looking over at her.

“Eric and Will of course, and I could get Marshall to find some really interesting facts on the chemical differences between them and how they are received by humans as well as other animals.”

“I’m glad I agreed.” He said.

They walked a little farther out in silence looking at the water, swinging the entwined hands and sneaking peeks at each other like teenagers on a first date.

Then Sydney felt a tug on her hand and realized the Vaughn had stopped walking and was concentrating on her.

“Michael?” She asked looking at his face with concern, and intrigue.

“Sydney we need to talk about a few things, okay?” He asked searching her eyes for permission to continue on.

“What is it?” Her stomach flip flopped and she pulled her shall closer to her.

“Well, since the day I met you I knew that you were different, more unique than any other person I had ever met, and ever since then I have taken pleasure in learning your stubborn ways, caring heart, and unselfish soul. I’m not sure that I could go on in my life with out you, and I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately.

Sydney looked at Vaughn unsure of where this was going. There were a few possible scenarios in her mind and she wasn’t sure what she thought of each of them. She tried to focus her attention strictly on Vaughn and what he was saying.

That was when Vaughn took both her hands and bent down onto one knee. Sydney’s mind wobbled and her breathe caught.

“Sydney Anne Bristow I can not promise you happily ever afters, I would be lying if I did, because life is difficult and hands out curve balls, but I want to be there with you. I want to be there for happy times, and sad times, times when you want to throw dishes on the floor in anger or despair, or clink champagne flutes in toasts of happiness and accomplishment.”

Sydney let the words wash over her and felt her strong resolve start to crumble and felt tears sting the corners of her eyes. Vaughn reached up and gently whipped them with his thumb.

“I need to see you every day of my life, I want to know what you did during the day, and share my stories with you and listen to yours. I don’t want to go through this world alone. You are the reason my heart flutters, and my stomach trembles. You house my heart and hold the key to my smile and laugh. I want to continue to learn and watch you grow. I want to fight for you and the causes you believe in. For all these reasons and more, some I haven’t even uncovered yet, I am asking you Sydney Anne Bristow to marry me. If you do I promise you that for the rest of your life I will be faithful, and a soft and constant place for you to adjourn to when the world gets to be to much for you.”

Vaughn took back one of his hands and reached into his pocket and pulled out a blue box and looked back up at Sydney.

“Syd, will you marry me?” He asked as he opened the box to reveal a single diamond the glinted in the moon light.
Sydney tried to take mental photos of everything and savor this moment. She knew that it would never some again.

She had never had the luxury of letting herself imagine a wedding and a married life but once before, with Danny. She had loved him; she knew that was true, but not this way.

This was a love so large, and powerful that it took her by storm and could make her heart ache because it was so swelled with love for this man in front of her in the sand.

She could hear the music from the pier gentle and soft on the wind and felt the glow of the moon as it encased her and Vaughn.

There was no doubt in her mind that this was the man she was meant to be with. Sydney also knew that Vaughn was not proposing to her because she was pregnant, this was because of his love for her and not out of any misguided feelings of duty.

She took her loose hand and placed it on the side of his face and smiled down into his eyes.

“Of course I will Michael.” She replied with a tinkle of a laugh.

Vaughn took the ring out of the box and slipped it onto her left hand and then kissed her finger and then ring and held it to his heart.

Then he stood up and kissed her wrapping her in his arms, feeling her strong and warm all along his body.

He had been honest and he knew she loved him.

They stood watching the waves and kissing each other and danced to the music from the pier above and giggled whispering to each other and making the promises that lovers make to each other as the night shinned around the engaged couple.
