TV Shows We Should Be Getting

As you all know I am totally fed up with the slop that is presented by the Entertainment Industry.

I firmly believe Science Fiction Television should create a sense of Awe and Wonder. Science Fiction story arcs in television series should drive us to explore and discover new things. It should instill forward thinking and a resolve to reach new heights in science and philosophy.

In today's world of social networking and 'live for the moment' philosophies our achievements are based on the "Like" syndrome. Our goals are distorted by the trending of the social conscience. The entertainment industry reads these trends and decides what will make them the most money. Great business strategies but very bad for creativity. The public is who suffers. What is worse is they are not even aware they are being played.

This topic is for discussing what science fiction TV series we should be getting. Television is known to mold society and reinforce or diminish trends. Science fiction fans are among the smartest and most imaginative people in society and programming should be pushing intelligence and imagination instead of stupidity and complacency.

As science fiction fans, what programming would you like to see on TV. Lets describe some SciFi TV Series we would love to see. For the sake of creativity, profit is not the goal. Funding is not an issue and politics is not a stifling factor.

Lucy
Lucy (2014) - IMDb
It was supposed to be a simple job. All Lucy had to do was deliver a mysterious briefcase to Mr. Jang. But immediately Lucy is caught up in a nightmarish deal where she is captured and turned into a drug mule for a new and powerful synthetic drug. When the bag she is carrying inside of her stomach leaks, Lucy's body undergoes unimaginable changes that unlocks her mind's full potential 100%. With her new-found powers, Lucy turns into a merciless warrior intent on getting back at her captors. She receives invaluable help from Professor Norman, the leading authority on the human mind, and French police captain Pierre Del Rio.

I find this an interesting concept that could make for a very entertaining and thoughtful TV Series. There would need to be some changes in the premise but the baseline idea is a good one.

It's 2017 and there is a pandemic sweeping across the planet. A pandemic that will change the species and create a superior human being. It affects only the most intelligent of us at first but as the condition spreads and more people come in contact with those afflicted the spread increases exponentially. Medical science struggles to find the cause as people all over the world fall into a coma. A coma in which their brain activity increases ten-fold.
As the afflicted wake, they begin to show signs of increased brain activity. As with Lucy, Their powers begin to develop but over a longer period than in the movie.

The first season could deal with the pandemic and the efforts to control the spread.
The second season could deal with the awakenings and initiate good and evil entities.
The third season might explore how a team of the awakened police a world of sophonts.

A series like this is completely doable. Not only might it create a drive for expanding the human condition it will play on people's inner beliefs that we are more than we seem. It might explore the concepts of personal integrity and a planet-wide society.
