Singer Whitney Houston was found dead in her room February 11, 2012, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, USA. She was 48.
The daughter of a gospel singer, Houston would go on to have an amazing career with two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards, and hundreds of others. Houston was found in her hotel room bathtub in the water. The night before her death she was reportedly consuming a large amount of alcohol along with prescription Xanax. Houston reportedly had a recent history of using Xanax before concerts to help her relax. She was scheduled to perform at a concert February 12, 2012, at the hotel that she was staying at for Clive Davis, her mentor & head of Arista Records. In the past Houston battled drug addiction.
The combination of alcohol & Xanax can could result in a reaction including causing a person to fall asleep. Various prescription bottles were found in the hotel room. The actual cause of death is, at the moment, unknown; an autopsy is scheduled. For the curious, it is room #434.
The day after Houston's death, her daughter with singer Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina Brown, was rushed to the hospital after having a "complete breakdown." At the moment no details are available.
