A live-action feature adaptation of Witchblade, based on the Top Cow comic book franchise.
The comic book introduced the Witchblade mythology, which centers on an ornate jewel-encrusted gauntlet2.gif that gives extraordinary powers to the wearer, a specially chosen female from each generation.

To be honest we’ve never been particular fans of the Witchblade comics, which just seems like an excuse to draw some well-endowed scantily dressed females . . . um, nothing wrong with that, but hey, some occasional substance might be in order you know.
Anyway Michael Rymer who directed several new Battlestar Galactica episodes is set to direct. Normally that’d be exciting news, but not all Battlestar Galactica-related products are necessarily great. Take as example the ill-advised Bionic Woman “rethink” . . .

This is a solid and entertaining sequel / re-imagine the American comic series, Witchblade, the creation of the top cattle. Sadly, a rather optimistic after the first few episodes, the series began to falter. Then launched a series of one-dimensional characters tend to be quite firmly in the stereotypical roles and the "tough guy hero," "sadistic female assassin," "Comedy relief groups" and other.

I enjoyed the series that was on TNT...and was sad they decided to go a different direction with the network (becoming all about "drama") at the time. Will be glad to see this come back if it does...though since the OP was in 2009, and 2010 is almost over, I think we might see the writing on the wall.
