The story takes place in a distant future, where centuries have passed after The Final War, a conflict that made use of a new science called Psytech, which allows the user to alter reality with his/her mind.
Anyways, this new unchecked technology has a strange fallout that forces some of humanity's remaining survivors to go underground.
Centuries pass, and they ramin underground where they develop into a complicated and advanced society, until, the Vault, the place where they hid, finally opens.
They emerge, and find that the world has healed, but it has new inhabitants.
